Trails End Pub Leota — Restaurant in Summerfield Township

On 5/18/2024 my husband, sister and I decided to enjoy the beautiful weather by taking in a drink and the dinner special on the patio. The patio is very nice, and although our service was slow, Emma was polite and attentive once she became available.

We ordered mixed drinks and an appetizer to get us started, the appetizer sampler was filled with your traditional frozen bar appetizers of fried cheeses and poppers, which is exactly what we wanted and we have no complaints. We got what we exactly what we ordered.

Next our entrées , 1 NY Strip with fries, mixed vegetables and a salad (lettuce, tomato and cucumber), 1 NY strip with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and a side salad (same ingredients) and 1 battered shrimp dinner with mashed potatoes (no other side).

The 2 steaks ordered were not even close to same size or cooked properly and were gray in color (they tasted like they were marinated in something). The instant mashed potatoes were overly dry and didn’t come with gravy, frozen mixed vegetables and the sad side salad. We did not eat our entrees. Simply told Emma it wasn’t good and wanted the bill.

I assume it was the manager that came to our table and only stated that “that’s how we get them from our butcher” on why the steaks were so uneven, which I question as someone who gets meat from a butcher regularly. No comment about the dryness of the potatoes or the frozen products.

We walked away with a $96 dollar bill after a 10% discount was applied. I apparently needed to be rude and cause a scene in order to me to not pay for food we didn’t eat.

If you want fried food this is your place. If you’re looking for a home cooked meal, maybe see if Jackie’s Airport diner has availability. There are to many restaurants serving frozen crap, pick a few items and make them really well and you’ll do fine, but I have no need to...

Saturday 10/15 We stopped at trails in a pub for dinner. Drove 3 hours up north, got our motel. As always We stop by at trails pub for diner, food was good but service sucked. Party of 5 sat down(no Alcoholic beverages or prior drinks ) owe ordered food, 2 hamburgers a wet burrito and a chicken dinner. Everyone had gotten there food beside me,10 minutes went by and still no chicken dinner. I went to the bar and spoke with Becky the owner about how long it was taking. She good instantly mad that I even said anything about our food. All I asked was how much longer for the chicken dinner to be done. Five more minutes went by, everyone at our table had finished thier food. Waitress brings out the chicken dinner and I explained to her I no longer want the dinner because everyone was done eating and ready to leave. NOW... the owner Dan came up to the table and aske me why I didn't want the food. I explained it to him, he gets in my face (6 inches) from my face and starts screaming at me, that I'm going to pay for the dinner. I then explained again that we waited approximately a hour for the chicken. He screaming at me telling me to get up and leave, I did. I walked out the front door and the door was owner followed me out and 3 of his buddies trying to fight me. My friend came out to check on me and then 2 more his buddies follow him out. Two of us and the owner and his 7 buddies wanted to fight. He pushed me and my friend, screaming at us... We were staying at Leota Lodge, down the block, so this was very convenient for not only food but to get an alcoholic beverage. This was our 2nd time there, the first was last year at the same time. It has "seat yourself" seating, which I'm not a fan of because who knows whom sat first and where they sat. Last year, we waited quite a long time for our waitress to even notice us. She appeared to be either drunk or on something and was having a hard time keeping things on track. It was NOT that busy, yet it took a long time to get our orders taken, brought to us, extras delivered (ie condiments, utensils, drink refills). My boyfriend finally got tired of waiting for a refill, he went to the bar to get it himself.

The second time we went here, it was slightly busy, but there were several waitresses and not all the tables were full. Not only did the people who walked in AFTER us get service first and their orders (first) but we NEVER got service at all! We kept trying to make eye contact and signal them, without yelling or being rude. Besides, we were seated at the same table as the people who walked in after us. Here, several tables are large enough to accommodate parties, so people that aren't together tend to share tables.They noticed us, at our empty tables, not even a single water at the table, and yet nobody EVER came. We finally decided to leave, after approximately 15-20 minutes of waiting. Only as we were leaving did someone even look our way. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back!
