Been going to the Shack for a decade every year I come back to the Hills, burgers are still bangin but wow...service is in a (hopefully) short term rut.
Two trips within a 10 day period. First was ok, party of 4. Waitress seemed awfully annoyed to have to accommodate a basic group... whatever. Second time-this is the only place outside of Rapid "open" after 7pm- I started calling about an hour before closing hoping to grab a simple to-go order. 7:06 was my first call; someone obviously picked up then hung up immediately. Hmmm I thought, that's strange 🤔 I'll try again....next few calls immediately went to busy because they took the phone off the line.
Like, I get it...sometimes you don't want to work and milk the clock for the last hour, cool, then just answer the phone like a grownup and say we're not taking orders for the last hour we're open because we don't feel like working. So I drive over there at 7:40, line cook is chilling with his high school buddies, and I ask if I could get an order since you're open until 8? "Sorry, grill is off". I ask the waitress if she got any of my calls and she says..."didn't hear it🤷♀️" 🙄
Moral of the story -i get it that you're in the middle of nowhere and don't have to put forth any effort, but at least attempt to abide by your operation hours or at least respond to take out requests...
Read moreWellllll. Where do I start? In the end it was good. That's why I give it 3 stars. I started to order a bacon cheeseburger but ended up order a chili cheeseburger. Wellllll, when it was coming to me I was like "This isn't what I ordered". They had taken the bun and split it, laid it out. Put the hamburger on top in middle. Put chili with meat, beans, chunks of tomatoes, etc (the beans & tomatoes which I don't really like) over the whole top. Cheese and onions on top. I asked how am I suppose to eat this she said "With the knife and fork". Well I spread out some napkins out and I take the fork and knife, lift the hamburger up and set on napkins. Take the bottom roll clear it off set it aside on another napkin. Take the top roll clear it off set it aside on napkin. Then I push all the extra chili to one side. Mind you I still have fries on the plate. I wipe the plate clean of the chili. Reassemble the hamburger. Cut it in half. So now It's ready I can now handle it to eat. It was good. I think the bacon cheeseburger would have better. Just to say if you want a chili cheeseburger here it will be an open...
Read moreDisappointing... We ordered a Mushroom Swiss Sugar burger, grilled ham and cheese, a tea and a beer, amount came to $43 plus tip. The burger certainly wasn't worth $16, was dry and tasteless, adding salt helped some, but I wasn't expecting a cooked from frozen burger, they advertise the biggest and the best, wrong on both counts. The grilled ham and cheese was appalling honestly, the ham had a good flavor on its own, but pretty sure it's was just a ham steak left over from breakfast, and the cheese was one slice of what I'm pretty sure was just craft sliced cheese. Service was ok, but Staff all seemed unexcited to be there. The atmosphere started out nice, they have a nice outdoor seating area that we enjoyed until an extremely loud group of side-by-side riders came in, pretty sure they had been indulging before they arrived. And, to make matters worse they don't even serve shakes anymore, nor have any kind of dessert. We've been traveling for a couple of of months across multiple states, and this was by far the least enjoyable dining...
