Taqueria Gonzalez — Restaurant in Summit

You might drive right by it every day without realizing that you just passed up the best authentic Mexican food this side of the Red River. I hope my review helps to correct that so that everyone will give them a taste!

I always order to go, and my thing is the chimichangas. I have had all three versions--chicken, ground beef, and steak. All are seasoned and cooked to perfection, as are the sides. The Spanish rice is mighty fine... Those pintos, though! The refried beans are not the stuff you see dumped out of a can. They actually taste like slow-cooked from dry pintos that are then refried--if you are a Texan who knows how to make REAL refried pintos, then you know how to tell they are the real deal and not canned slop.

Everything I have had here has been made without cutting corners and is authentic Mexican---nowhere else local compares. Every single dish is delicious and servings are bountiful. As in, eat half tonight--you will be so full! Then take the other half to work tomorrow.

When I order take out here I have always been giving a serving of tortilla chips and salsa in the bag with my meal. I love the chips with their hearty guacamole too!

Decided to stop in randomly and give them a try. So glad I did! Not a whole lot going on inside. Greeted soon as I walked in. Menu very easy to navigate. Ordered the Birria and Carnitas street tacos. The flavor was phenomenal. Super fresh ingredients. The Verde and Hot sauce are made in house and the consomme for the birria is delicious. Idk if they are in process of getting liquor license.
