Bar-B-Que Hut — Restaurant in Sumter

Arrived a little after noon on a Friday, buffet was out of multiple items. When asked if more ribs would be added was told no that's all for the day. Being open until 2pm and the crowd that was in there at 1200pm they should have had more cooking. Chicken was dry and tasted like it was covered with ketchup not BBQ sauce. On a good note, slaw was rocking as was the banana pudding (which they ran out of too). I will not return to this establishment.

There was only rice, hash, green beans (empty not refilled while we were there), black eyed peas, chicken, bbq, hush puppies, slaw and potatoe salad on the bar. Only one choice for desert, banana pudding. Really needed more of a selection and plates handy would have been great. Standing in line at from to get another plate was pretty time consuming.

No trash cans anywhere to throw used plates away so many of the tables were...

Place is Packed ... food was good.... not much on the buffet though ... some corn butter beans hash and regular bbq ... that's about it ... no mac and cheese ???? I work all over the state of South Carolina ... eat at places like this all the time ... kennys BBQ hemming way .... smoke house in Jefferson ... struttin turkey in Florence ... I could go on and on ... they all have triple the amount of stuff on the buffet ... and also .. having to go to the front counter to ask for another plate for the buffet kinda sucks ... I mean it's all u can eat buffet ... put the plates out there ....and they guy didn't seem excited about giving me another plate ..... I think this is a sumter locals kinda place ...again the food was good I liked it ... just not alot of choice .... deff had better experiences else where.... put the plates out and more items on the buffet it would be a...

Overall, a great place to pick up some local BBQ quick and head home to eat and relax. Pros: Good food with healthy servings and a wonderful staff. My preference is the ribs and pulled pork. Enjoy the potato salad, slaw, and rice with hash for an extra tasty meal. Cons: The chicken just looked soggy. If you add sauce (told it was house BBQ but was a little spicy), prepare for some extra added vinegar. I understand this is the south, but a vinegar base does not mean that's all BBQ should taste like. Without sauce, it's excellent, though.
