We were excited to try 55 Bistro as we have been playing golf at Sea Trail for over 30 years and the food was always just OK. We did not think it was open due to construction but we called and were directed to the appropriate entrance. We sort of wandered in but the manager quickly spotted us and found us an appropriate spot, in addition he recognized my wife was the person he had just spoken too.
Allie our server was quick to our table and took our drink orders, which were very good. My wife ordered a salad with grilled salmon and I ordered the cheeseburger and fries medium rare. The food came quickly. My wife enjoyed her salad but just slightly overdressed but the dressing (peach something??) was tasty. The add on grilled salmon was cooked well but could have used more seasoning and was not very much, I would guess 2 ounces or so.
My burger was overdone but the steak fries were outstanding. The manager was nearby and I called him over and showed him my burger and asked if this was medium rare. He could not have grabbed my plate any quicker and said he would take care of it. They asked if I wanted anything while I waited for my new burger and I said I was good.
The second burger was perfect, along with the fries. The manager (I asked his name, Daniel) came over to make sure it was done right, well truth be told he checked on us prior to that and we had a nice conversation. We think the orders got mixed because Daniel was himself a chef and had confidence in whoever was in charge of the burgers.
We will be back. The place is still working out kinks and will expand but I am confident it will succeed. I mainly feel this way because having been and worked with folks who lead, I know Daniel is the type of person who knows how to lead and understands customer service.
My rating would not have been as high if it were not for Daniel and Allie. Treating customers right is part of the...
Read moreMy sister and I tried 55 Bistro for the first time and we loved it. I think what made the experience so great was our server Michael (Mike). He was friendly and so helpful in answering all of our questions and he had a great smile!
We sat at the tables near the bar, the place is large with dining areas plus a pool table and some video games.
We ordered wine (not a large selection and we hope they will add new wines over time). They do have a good selection of liquor for mixed drinks.
We ordered the mozzarella sticks with marinara. There were 3 but they were much larger than what you typically get at most places. We both liked them.
I had the grown-up grilled cheese with bacon, goat cheese, tomato on grilled sourdough and the onion rings. The sandwich was yummy and loved the onion rings. Right amount of crunch and batter vs onion ratio...lol
My sister had the burger with cheese and potato salad. She enjoyed the burger and loved the potato salad. We were digging on the sides! I tasted the potato salad, and it had a nice taste of dill and a little smokiness to it.
We were really comfortable there and the chairs were soft, so you didn't get tired sitting too long. That is an added plus if you want to sit and enjoy some drinks and food for a bit.

If you are at Sea Trail visiting, playing golf, or just looking for a new place to try I definitely...

I live in Sea Trail and was thrilled about the restaurant opening. On the second day of the first week, I went with another ST resident and a friend bc we wanted to support the new space and we were invited to share feedback. Or so we thoughtâŚ. It was a terrible experience. Three different staff/servers all told a different story about their âconversation with the chefâ regarding my food allergies. The attitude from two out of the three people was incredibly dismissive and rude. Finally someone (who actually spoke to the chef) came out and was helpful; he even supposedly asked for my name and number and I was told he would call me. That was over two months ago. I stupidly decided to go back bc a Riptide staff member said they worked out all the kinks and it was so much better now. So I went with that same friend who also lives here; we went up for a drink and miraculously got a seat at the tiny bar. We were barely greeted and after ordering, the bartender forgot my friendâs wine. When I asked him about it- he humorously admitted he forgot it (which we appreciated) yet kept cleaning glasses and chatting with a couple at the bar. He eventually came down and poured the wine and yet clearly couldnât be bothered by us. We are incredibly disappointed after all the hype we received as residents. I will say- the food looked good and was no longer served on paper goods. Too bad the chef never called as promised or Iâd be a regular and Iâd...
