Takoda's Restaurant — Restaurant in Sweet Home

Last few times the food wasn't great as per usual, but last time I got the "special" which was supposed to be catfish and rice. I'm not sure how the fish was cooked, but it was a strange texture. It wasn't breaded or battered. It had a sort of "skin" type film on it like it was deep fried but without a proper coating. It was laid atop some plain white rice like an island among a red soup of sorts. There was a lot of it. It did not taste good. It didn't look good. They tried to make it look fancy but I took one bite and pushed it aside. I ate my partners fries for dinner. The server was obviously new and very green. She had no clue how to handle the situation. She eventually brought our check and apparently wanted me to pay for the food that wasn't fit to eat. She did not come back for the check so I took it up front and explained. This was met w more surprise and confusion since I wasn't paying for food that I didn't like (I'm not a picky eater, but if I'm paying $20 for food, it needs to be good). They eventually figured it out. That said, this is the first I've sent food back in years. I wish they'd get a decent cook in there. When I moved here it was pretty good...

I was out there a couple if weeks ago, on my to bend for business and I thought I'd stop for a pint. I was served my beer and it was a great beer. Then I ordered another one and the women who already served me alcohol proceeded to tell me she wasn't going to serve me anymore because she didn't believe my driver's license was me. And told me I wasnt 21. First off I'm 28 years old I had money and I wanted a drink. Anyways I just thought the owners or someone should know that it was your manager or so I was told that was treating me this way. It was totally unprofessional. And coming from someone that works in the industry, it's not a good look for your business to serve someone, then after say they don't look of age. That makes no sense. I don't recall her name but she was average height, brown hair. I will never be returning . Due to the way I was treated. It's unfortunate because I was going to recommend it to people because it's a beautiful place. But I can't send my friends to a place that discriminates me for the sole reason that my hair is long. While traveling from Central Oregon to Springfield, Oregon, a dinner stop was suggested & Takoda's was chosen both for convenience & past experiences. We decided on pizza, ordering a child's pepperoni & cheese with tater tots for my daughter & a large combination with added green peppers & onions. All the food ordered was absolutely delicious, the toppings seemingly fresh & very flavorful. *If I were to express anything I didn't love, it would be that each food item lacked adequate salt, yet that can be an individual preference with the adage, "You can add, but you can't take away." The restaurant offers large screen TVs ideal for sporting events, a gift & souvenir shop that spreads thru out the downstairs along with an area upstairs. I would like to thank our server, Carissa (hopefully correct), who made my daughter feel comfortable after she tipped a bench over, knocking a large bucket of stuffed toys over at the cash register/reception area as we waited to be seated, a whole other story... 😃 I can certainly recommend the pizza & I feel comfortable recommending...
