We recently had dinner at The Palace in Sylvester. While the restaurant itself is stunning, with beautiful attention to detail throughout, our experience was far from enjoyable. The atmosphere and setup suggest a high-end establishment with great potential, but unfortunately, the execution fell short.
Throughout the evening, we were served by three different servers who clearly did not communicate with one another. When ordering entrées, we were repeatedly told that items we wanted were out of stock. In one instance, I ordered a dish only to have the server return 15 minutes later to inform me it was unavailable. I had even mentioned being torn between two options, and she failed to tell me that one of them wasn’t an option at all.
The drinks didn’t arrive together, and there was significant confusion about who ordered what—again, likely due to the lack of coordination among the staff. It was apparent early on that the servers, management, and bar staff were not on the same page.
To make matters worse, when we received the bill, there was a $26 charge for a Blanton’s whiskey shot. While we had ordered a whiskey, we specifically asked for a well drink. Apparently, “well” was interpreted as “the best you have to offer.” When we tried to dispute the charge or suggest paying for a well whiskey instead, the manager approached us in a hostile and defensive manner, even asking if we had already finished the drink. His reluctance to address the issue and rude demeanor were extremely disappointing.
By the end of the night, we were still hungry, as the entrees we ended up ordering were not our first—or even second—choices due to availability issues. Despite spending nearly $400 as a table, we left feeling frustrated and let down. While this restaurant has the potential to be a high-end dining experience, the lack of staff training, poor communication, and dismissive management make it fall far short of that goal. Needless to say, we won’t be returning...
Read moreSADLY they scored a F. Three ppl of the table of 6 didn't eat anything after over 2 hours. Two ppl were served Black Burnt $22 hamburger patty plates that had to be sent back. After being told they would bring right out new plates cooked correctly. We waited on & on , being told several times they were working on getting it right out, then later saying they were coming that kitchen was backed up, until finally the waitress doesn't even know what to say, so we finally just say bring the bill please. The Shrimp & Grits meal was very oily and served cold, that person didn't even bother to sent it back. Give it back to waitress full with only a few bites missing. But waitress wasn't even capable of noticing NOTHING had been eaten, to even ask.. So over 2 hours later & a bill total of $86 , my wife and I left with eating Zero, a 40$ bottle of wine and 1 margarita and 2 waters. Yep 86$ then left a 15$ tip. So after basically spending $100 in total for leaving hungry and disappointed, that's how I give 1 star and a...
Read moreThis was our first visit to the restaurant, it was an hour and a half drive, but so worth it, we will definitely be back. Love the atmosphere, so much to look at. We had a server named Sierra and she was absolutely amazing, answered all our questions about different menu items and had the best personality and was always smiling. The food was so yummy, I had the grouper tacos, got all the toppings on the side, so I can make sure I liked everything (2nd pic) and my husband had the French dip. We would definitely get again, but next time we definitely want to try something else on the menu because we know it will be delicious. We had never had fried ice cream, but after Sierra recommended and explained in detail how it's made and we could not resist. Every single thing is homemade except for the bowl it came in and oh my gosh, it was sooooo good. This Was a perfect place to have lunch, celebrating 35th wedding...
