Adventures In South JerseyAdventures In South Jersey
At the end of October we had an adventure at our ā€œfavorite gourmet dive barā€ when we went to The Village Pub Tabernacle NJ for tomahawk steak night! When you take your first look, you may hesitate to go inside, but we’ve been going to this south jersey treasure for years. When I saw they were having tomahawk steak night, I made a reservation right away. I’m glad I did because they sold out weeks before the 2 night event. A 42 ounce steak with crab meat and vodka sauce and sides for $100! Their combination of amazing food and incredible prices can’t be beat. We always start off the bacon wrapped scallops. Chef Andre has weekend specials so the food is always different and delicious! We loved the shrimp, clams, mussels and crabmeat served over pasta in marinara sauce, the cast iron lamb chops, and the pan seared ahi tuna and shrimp with teriyaki marinade! Some of our friends that live in Tabernacle order food here several times a week. We live 15 minutes away so after a day in LBI or an afternoon of bar hopping, we usually stop here for dinner. The food is great, the prices are great, but the highlight of our adventure is always the great people! From the staff to the patrons, everyone is so friendly and we really enjoy the atmosphere of simple country living. So take a trip through the farms and pinelands to The Village Pub and experience your favorite gourmet dive bar! šŸšœšŸŒ²šŸŖ“šŸ„© #adventuresinsouthjersey #tabernaclenj #tomahawksteak #villagepubtabernacle

Don't let the unassuming nature of the place fool you. Looks aren't everything! My husband and I went with our 18 mo. old granddaughter. The place was packed on a Wednesday, always a good sign. My husband had the Tomahawk steak, I had the chicken francaise, and we decided on grilled cheese for the baby. New England clam chowder was probably the best I've ever had. Impressive. Chicken francaise was absolutely delicious. Light and fresh with more than enough to take some home. Tomahawk steak was topped with crab in vodka sauce served with potato wedges broccoli, however there were a multitude of add on options for the meal. Maybe a tad over the medium ordered but my husband thoroughly enjoyed every bit. The servers were attentive and we never waited overly long even though they were very busy. The owner was so nice. He personally made and delivered our granddaughter's grilled cheese and chatted for a bit with us and with the baby. We actually wait to go back and try some other dishes as the menu had some great choices.

Dont let the outside fool you…. It’s a dump. Like scary… . …but once you go inside, it’s your typical dive bar vibe. The staff was pleasant, quick and attentive. The menu was affordable and the food was very much above average. . We went in for chicken parm night and for $16.99 it can’t be beat! . The bathrooms were utterly disgusting girlfriends report, no photos. Go to the bathroom before you leave, and hold it for the ride home. . It's a hidden local gem for food. We’ll probably go back, but owners/management should be embarrassed of the outside presentation of the place…. However, I think they almost want it that way to keep people away? . However the food does live up to the reputation of the place.
