The location was AMAZING. Super amazing place to have drinks or food with friends or for a date. I would never return though due to the service. At first the service was wonderful...until a mistake was made. My party ordered mixed drinks. A friend did not want one specific brand of alcohol in their beverage. The bartender proceeded to tell us about the other options by holding up all the other bottles that were options. They didn't explain anything about the other options (like cost, aftertaste, whether it was a good choice for the drink, etc). My friend wasn't picky, so they just selected one at random (which was very obvious it was a random choice by what they were saying to the bartender). The bartender proceeded to make our drinks, was super friendly, then gave us the drinks and the check. My friend quickly signed the check without thinking but took a quick glance as we stood up. Thank goodness they did. They charged them $75 for one shot that was used in their mixed drink. We assumed it was a mistake (thought maybe they charged the entire bottle) so we pointed it out. They said that's how much that one shot cost. My friend said absolutely not. They weren't paying for a $75 shot of alcohol when the bartender gave absolutely no heads up that they had randomly selected the most expensive liquor to put in the drink. I get it - my friend should have asked the cost if she was picking whatever the bartender had in their hands as they were randomly raising the liquor options. That's on us. But what happened after was what sealed the deal. The bartender proceeded to blame them for making that choice, said there was nothing they could do, and said people order it all the time. Irritating but I could have let this go. He then approached his coworker to discuss possible next steps. The coworker made the nastiest faces and made comments about how we should have somehow known how expensive this alcohol was. Our original bartender gave my friend the 50% employee discount on the drink. Although a $35 mixed drink is outrageous, my friend paid for it. We were ready to leave it behind us and return to having fun and chatting. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. My friend decided to take some photos on the deck because there was an amazing view of the lake. The photos were being taken just outside the bar, and you could clearly see inside the bar (and those inside could see out). The worker who made the nasty faces looked up, saw my friend (who had the drink issue) take photos, looked directly at them, and then started laughing until they walked away. This was the final straw. We were trying to put things behind us and own our part of the problem, but the behavior of the coworker (also a bartender and seemed to maybe even be the manager?), was so out of line. We will never return here for that reason alone. Very unfortunate. I'm generally super forgiving but I can't return to a place that mocks/belittles customers, let alone doing it in front of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt usually leave reviews, but I feel compelled to leave one after my poor experience at Chambers Landingās Bar yesterday afternoon (July 3rd). While obtaining a wristband yesterday from security to order a drink from the bar, I presented my TX driverās license, which is where everything went downhill. The ill-trained bartender was not familiar with TX licenses and insisted my DL was fraudulent, saying they would have to āconfiscate itā. After I protested their erroneous decision and demanded to speak to the manager, I was then asked a series of bizarre questions about the purpose of my visit to Lake Tahoe (itās the 4th of July) and why I, as a person from the Bay Area, had a Texas license (hint: lots of people, myself included, have moved from CA to TX). The manager on duty was unrelenting, and would not return or compare my driverās license to an ID book. Eventually, I had to call the Placer County Sheriff, and 2 deputies were able to confirm the authenticity of my age, and promptly return my license. As a hospitality business in an area that caters to visitors from all around the world, itās poor business practice to be unfamiliar with identification documents from Americaās second-largest state. One would expect that a popular lakeside bar would adequately train its employees on proper protocol for checking IDās from various different states, but evidently thatās not the case. If management had properly trained their staff or purchased an ID scanner, my experience could have easily been averted. Staff apologized in the end, but sorry doesnāt make up for treating a customer in such an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have eaten here a few times before and really enjoyed a nice sit-down dinner on those prior occasions. We were looking forward to the filet mignon with cauliflower mashed potatoes this evening. When we sat down we were confronted with essentially a children's menu: including hot dogs, pizza, tacos, and grilled cheese sandwiches -- those are all great at the right time and place.
We were not alone in our disappointment as the table next to us had the same reaction. The menu that we looked at this morning on the website before making the reservation was not reflective of what was in the restaurant when we got here. They are serving the pier lunch menu for the dinner grill crowd. Too many businesses are coasting on pandemic expectations like this one is at the moment. We won't be back anytime soon. I doubt our neighbors will be either.
To top it off, all of our beverages were served in plastic instead of the nice glass visible on their shelves.
This is another business that makes money in spite of what they are doing, not because of what...
