Such a disappointing experience. I made reservations weeks in advance and my party and I arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation just to be told there was still a party sitting at our table and they had just ordered dessert. After waiting for another 30 minutes I finally approached the owner about the long wait and magically an open table appeared. We then sat down and ordered, we waited an hour for our food to arrive. Within that hour our waitress came to our table TWICE in which I had to jump at the chance to ask for refills for our waters before she ran off. She paid more attention to the older, more privileged looking guests than our group. She averted her eyes while walking past our table to avoid interactions with us with the excuse that she âhas other tables she needs to serveâ (direct quote from our waitress at the end of the night). We had to wave down another waiter to ask for bread and butter that was served complimentary at every table after waiting 30 minutes after we ordered our food. Not once did the waitress apologize for the long wait for the food nor did she ask for refills on our alcoholic drinks. Once our food arrived, two out of the five dishes were cold. We were treated the best by the bus boy who took our dishes in a timely manner. Finally before leaving a manager approached our table and asked about our dining experience in which i mentioned the long wait for our food and the cold food. We were given a gift card for our troubles in which we were extremely thankful since our waitress gave no concern for our experience. I had also overheard that this waitress was apart of the management staff, but preferred serving which made this experience even more disappointing since one would expect a staff member apart of management to be the epitome of excellent service to represent that restaurant.
Moral of this post: if you do not look or dress like you come from old money then do not come here, you will be treated poorly for how you present yourself or...

We recently celebrated a birthday dinner for my cousin at Swiss Lake Restaurant, and it was a truly memorable experience! This classic old restaurant, tucked away on the scenic West Shore of Lake Tahoe, provided the perfect setting for our special evening. With plenty of parking and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, itâs easy to see why it has stood the test of time.
We kicked off the night with a round of expertly crafted cocktails including classic Martinis with blue chesse oliveâs and a variety of appetizers, including the rich and flavorful escargot, perfectly steamed clams, and decadent oysters Rockefeller. Each dish was a hit at our table, setting the tone for a fantastic meal.
The service was outstanding, with a special shout-out to Hannah, our waitress, who made sure everything was perfect. Her prompt, attentive service ensured we never wanted for anything, and her friendly demeanor added to the charm of the evening.
The menu offered a wide variety of options to suit everyoneâs tastes, including their famous prime rib, available on Friday and Sunday nights. Our group enjoyed a diverse selection of entrees, and everyone left raving about their meals.
To finish the evening, we couldnât resist indulging in their house specialty dessert â the Grand Marnier soufflĂ©. It was an absolute masterpiece! Light, airy, and bursting with flavor, it was the perfect end to an already perfect meal.
Swiss Lake Restaurant is a true West Shore gem, offering great food, excellent service, and a classic Tahoe ambiance. Weâll definitely be back...
Read moreRUSHED THROUGH DINNER! My husband and I booked this restaurant for a date night on our vacation. We looked at several different dining and activities to treat ourselves while on vacation. We had a choice of doing an earlier dinner or an 8:00pm dinner. We chose the latter. While the food was great (we loved the grilled artichoke), we were rushed through every course of our meal. We were really looking to spend our time enjoying our food and conversation. We literally went through 3.5 courses in less than an hour. I felt as though our staff wanted to get us cleared out of there by 9:00 to go home. However, everyone else who was seated outside seemed to be leisurely enjoying their experience without being rushed out the door. This was very apparent as we exited the restaurant with no patrons inside and still at minimum 10 tables outside with guests. We did not have the experience we were looking for considering the cost of our meal. If you don't want to have guests in your establishment past a certain time, don't make reservations so late or seat them outside so they can be giving the same level of service as the guests seated outside. We were both very disappointed. Also, just a side note, the soufflé tasted eggy (like they missed adding vanilla or something). I've never had one that tasted that way. I was very thankful for the sauce to cover up the flavor. The atmosphere outside is much nicer... waterfalls and lights. Inside is a...
