This might doesn't look like a review. I wrote this an essay about a great experience of my life, its real, and I would like to share here: When I was working at TJ, [one day my co-workers told me that they are going somewhere to have a good time together and they asked me if I want to come. I liked them and I agreed. TJ work is hard, starting at 5:00 AM, moving heavy fruit packages and food and drink boxes around all the time, except for a short break, until 1:00 PM. Got there all tired and in TJ uniform shirts, we all stood in a line and realized that they were all ordering beer. I asked them about the place and they said that here, instead of a glass of beer for four dollars, four small glasses of beer cost four dollars, so you can taste all the flavors. I did not know what to do when I subconsciously saw myself in front of the line. Oh, I did not think beer was different from beer. I looked at the wall and saw, oh my god, that there were maybe thirty beer faucets, each with a different beer. He asked me what I wanted. Since I didn't know what I want I just said, "May you please give me your four best-selling beers?" He looked me in the eye and said nothing. I did not know what was going on. Then, I saw that he was saying something under his lips that sounded like grumbling. He had helped and poured all six or seven of my colleagues' glasses in five minutes, but it was taking maybe two or three minutes for each of my four glasses. I was very worried about why it was taking so much time, and what he was whispering with himself. Then I realized that he was going into the computer and looking to see what the best-selling beer, like in the past year, and was filling my glass based on that. Then he would go to see what was the second best seller and so forth. This took a lot of time from him and since he had a lot in his mind and a lot of work to do, so he was venting out by grumbling quietly. He gave me the beers and rang them up for me, and while I was in shock, I took the bears to the table and my co-workers tested the bears. They all loved them. I didn't stay with them, told them I need to pick up my child from school, and left. I usually don't drink because I brought up as a Muslim. I was not surprised when I saw the name of his store (Growler Country off Capital CIrcle) in the list of the best businesses of 2019 in Tallahassee. For me, however, the behavior of that beer seller will be engraved in my soul for a lifetime. He did not give me dozens of religious lectures on the pulpit. The honesty and integrity that he demonstrated in his work were extraordinary. He could have given me anything, and I would have never known. Or he could have said that it is not possible for me to do that for you. Instead, he treated me with obsessive care, just for his own conscience. He did this, and I kept me in his debt for all my life. I wish someday I will be lucky to have a little bit of his integrity and...
Read moreWhile trying to find the phone number to GC, I came across the review from Mr. Johnson. I have to say that I have frequented this establishment for well over a year. I have personally witnessed the owner/manager/employees politely ask non-patrons not to park in the (2) "clearly marked" parking spaces in the front of the store. I have also witnessed the rude attitudes of the people when confronted with the request. If I had to guess, there is probably 40 or so parking spaces in this lot with additional parking behind the building. At peak hours, there are 3 businesses that occupy this lot, a restaurant, a convenience store and Growler Country. Obviously the convenience store has patrons that come and go and the other 2 have patrons that may spend a couple of hours. I personally do not have a problem with a business owner that wants to protect the interest of his customers by reserving a fraction of a percent of the total parking available for them. In fact, this concerned reviewer should probably think about the financial impact that GC has brought to its neighboring businesses. Prior to GC moving into this center, the parking lot stayed half full, at best. Now this place is booming most of the time due to what GC has to offer. So, hopefully anyone reading this review will take Mr. Johnson's review with a grain of salt. Growler Country is an amazing place with a great atmosphere, beer, and people, both customers and employees. If you are ever in Tallahassee visiting or a resident and you haven't been, this is a destination not to be passed up. They offer something for everyone. You can go in to fill growlers to take with you or hang around the community style tables and have a pint or 2 with some of your newly acquired friends! GC is hands down my favorite place to get a beer in Tallahassee! I hope to meet you...
Read moreHorrible Owners, Managers, and establishment. They do not care if employees work with fever food handling your orders. Food is pre-made in a sysco kitchen, that they reheat (NOT COOK) in hot water baths all shift. Same meat is usually reused the next day, and the peanuts are even more cross contaminated with in proper food handling practices (hot/cold standards NOT used, & the croc pot was washed 1 time in the brief time I was there). I worked here 2 weeks, was 100% honest about my disability and was fired less then 24 hours after calling out for bradycardia that I had to have a heart monitor placed for observation. Had I NOT worked with a sick employee on the food line hacking all over me for days, I wouldn't have had my heart react in the way it did. I would've not become ill and possibly helped them clean up their poor sanitation standards. The kitchen manager did the least amount of work, watched more tv than I've watched in a year the 2 weeks I worked that kitchen, and had zero desire to fix the health violations I continued to witness while there. One time an employee put raw hamburger patties on the cold bar prep table, walked away, and 30 minutes later I threw them away before sanitizing that cold bar station that cold food is prepared on. This place is a major health episode waiting to happen. Only quality I saw was the beer selection and 3 front of the house staff that get complained about by the lazy kitchen staff. So glad not to work there. I am about quality food only and customer...
