1220 Cafe — Restaurant in Tallassee

This place is a gem! I typically don't travel to Tallassee, but my husband was in town working and stopped for a lunch and raved about it... So of course I asked him to bring me on his day off :) We walked in and viewed the menu. The staff was very friendly and patient while I figured out what I wanted. We ordered corn nuggets with ranch, and both got loaded chicken tender sandwiches (I got mine buffalo as well) and we had fries, and fountain drinks. They have the good "sonic ice" which I loved and had Diet Dr. Pepper which was cool because not many places offer that. Drinks, to go plates and napkins are self serve. We didn't wait too long and they brought the food to the table. I wish I had taken a picture because I was shocked with how big our sandwiches were. They looked amazing and definitely worth the price because they use the really good fluffy Kaiser rolls, the chicken tenders were fresh, bacon was real, thickcut, and cheese tomato and lettuce was perfect. We live in Wetumpka, and this is our GO TO place. This is the nicest place to eat for the price, which in my opinion is good considering all that comes with the meal. By that I mean the atmosphere, the booths are nice and clean and relatively private, food is brought to your table, you eat and drink from real dishes not paper. The food is great, they have the best chicken fingers around hands down. I have eaten chicken fingers at a variety of food establishments and these are always fresh and juicy and they are real meat. My husband loves their chicken caesar salad, the dressing is very good. I have had their ruben sandwich and have been very satisfied. I like the broccoli side salad as well as their pasta salads. They serve a Turtle Latte that is delicious. I have tasted almost all of their cookies and love the oatmeal raisin the best which surprised me as I usually like chocolate chip. They are a bit on the cake style side. They are still good but for chocolate chip cookies I prefer the good ole' Nestle Toll House style crispy and chewy. The main problem with this place is that there’s very little desirable seating (6 booths). Proof that these are the only desirable tables is that most other tables will be empty while you see customers waiting for a booth, even busing and wiping down these tables themselves to get them.

The problem with the tables in the front is that they are too close together, and it’s so quiet in the front that you can hear people at other tables chewing. I would improve the front by reducing the number of tables, possibly converting them to booths, and adding more audible music to make it feel more cozy.

The problem with the tall tables against the wall is that they are too close together, there is too much traffic in the area (people walking and standing right next to you while you’re eating), and the people in the booths are so close you feel like you’re eating on stage in front of an audience.
