I’ve tried it twice before, TODAY I made my final review. So in my experience the food and service is good. I’ve only done breakfast.. I love the breakfast and the prices.. the staff is friendly and really serves..

Until the owner doubled charged for the breakfast.. gave us a menu, never even mentioned the prices changed, matter of fact upon ordering my husband asked the waitress about the prices because he was shocked and doubled his meal because of the price 🤷🏽‍♀️ and the waitress was like yes it’s correct with new menus 🤦🏽‍♀️ ( Let me say this as a family of 5 our eat out expenses are budgeted out of our home every month so paying whatever is not the problem.. )

Today this is moral and principle ☝️and just plan old being right in your mind & heart.

🤌🏽two eggs breakfast that read on the menu $5.65-$5.95 somewhere in between that range after ordering breakfast 3 2egg breakfast @$5.95, free water, grilled cheese @$2.75 , cup of coffee$2.75 🤷🏽‍♀️ .. I should have paid $24-$26 .. plus my $10 tip … my order came up to $42 .$10tip.

which would not have been a problem if that was the advertised price on the menu. Like WHO DOES THIS??

You cannot charge someone another price when you’re advertising something else. What’s so bad is that I stated earlier this was my 3rd visit so I’ve be there twice.. and the old menus where old and filthy because my son and I joked about the menus 🤦🏽‍♀️ well today they had brand new menus printed out. When I asked him about the price of the ticket..he said the menus were old don’t pay the menus no mind ..🤷🏽‍♀️😩🤦🏽‍♀️🤌🏽who does this???

So for this reason because it was Shady, very unethical business actions,AND PLEASE I AM SO NOT EVER WANT TO PULL THE OTHER CARD OUT AND I NEVER EVER FEEL THAT WAY..BUT TODAY I FELT LIKE PULLING EVERY CARD THAT EXISTED… I will not be returning and if you pay attention to your written ticket, 🎟️ it’s not like waffle house where each item is priced and you can see your total for each item .. so you really don’t know what he’s charging at the register.. my goodness he’s on the register like Madea on the calculator 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣🤣

but like I said great place lots of Birmingham history inside if you’re paying attention and the type of person that really knows Birmingham history like my family does… The way he conducted business and over charged us was not okay.

I don’t mind paying for anything that I inquire about trust me we are very hard working people.. WE PAY OUR WAY, no hand outs 🤷🏽‍♀️

To be cheated for a few dollars is just crazy.. I’m sure they are loaded they’ve been in business for centuries.. if your prices has changed you must advertise that along with your price list and menus

Not rob people.. God is not pleased with that type of behavior.. so that will be my last visit ..

And this very unfortunate because I have so many people and friends in high places that really do great business and relays on my expertise of eating good food, honestly I would have bought in more business.. but since the people think everybody is nobody, because they live in their own bubble.. is just so sad....

This is probably my second or third time to come to the Cedar house each and every time the food has been amazing. It is an old-school cafeteria serving meat and vegetables. There were multiple choices each day for the entrée. I chose the hamburger steak. I also chose the term greens, black-eyed peas, and fried green tomatoes. Everything was amazing and tasted delicious. The staff continue to check on us and cater to our needs as we sat eating offering numerous times to refill our glasses. Omgeee! This place was super awesome! My husband heard about the place from a co-worker. It was a quaint and home-felt sit down cafeteria style restaurant. There was plenty of dishes, sides,salads and desserts to choose from. My husband Sean and I agreed that both of what we chose was scrumptious! We enjoyed the atmosphere, the old photos of the original owners (its still in the family). The waitress kept the sweet tea coming (without having to ask). Hey we even met Beth (she runs the place😀). She is so pleasant and bubbly. We told her and her husband that we will definitely be back. It was an awesome experience....
