If you're in the mood for authentic Mexican cuisine, look no further than Taqueria La Chona! This hidden gem has quickly become one of my favorite spots for a delicious meal.

We recently dined here and ordered a variety of tacos: carne asada, al pastor, chorizo, and puerco. Each taco was packed with flavor, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity. The carne asada was perfectly grilled, tender, and seasoned to perfection. The al pastor had just the right amount of spice and sweetness, making it a standout for sure. The chorizo was rich and savory, while the puerco was incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor. Each taco was served on warm, fresh tortillas that complemented the fillings beautifully.

In addition to the tacos, we also couldn’t resist trying a plate of tamales. They were simply divine! Each tamale was incredibly moist and flavorful, with just the right amount of filling. The homemade salsa that accompanied the tamales added an extra kick, enhancing the overall experience.

To top it all off, the service at Taqueria La Chona was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They made us feel welcome and ensured our dining experience was top-notch.

Very Friendly counter service. The burrito was very filling. I’m not a huge rice in my burrito fan but the flavor was excellent and I would definitely reorder it again. With Mexico having so many regions the varieties you get can vary greatly from one establishment to another. Here everything was very simple but had solid flavor that wasn’t overwhelming. In Tavares for work and stopped by for lunch, this place is a hidden gem my friends. Mexican food in FL is usually pretty bad but this place has it down to a T and it’s pretty authentic, none of that texmex stuff. Service is really good as well, wish they’d open where I live in Clearwater cause the Mexican food places around there could learn a thing of two about this spot.
