The Kitchen Garden is a great little spot in Templeton that I really enjoy visiting when in the area. As soon as you walk into the store, you can smell the aroma of fresh baked goods. They have many tasty treats, such as homemade cookies, pies, muffins, & more! My personal favorites are the molasses & ginger snap cookies. If you're not a huge spice fan, they also have classics like chocolate chip, peanut butter chip, & oatmeal with or without raisins. I also love their raspberry chocolate chip muffins & their Scandinavian Almond Cupcakes. They have a nice variety of different items in the store, such as trinkets, housewares, greeting cards, gift ideas, something for everyone. Around the holidays, they have a section with lovely Christmas items, including beautiful ornaments for the tree, or as decorations. They also have fresh coffee that you can help yourself too, although I'm not sure if this is still available since the pandemic. They have flowers & fresh veggies as well. They do have a porta potty outside in a fenced in area that customers can use. During Summer months, they also have an ice cream window. Some of their items are a bit high priced, although I will add that many of these things aren't items that you can find in regular stores. And it is not the case for all items, just some. They also offer cheese & bread from local places, as well as other items from local businesses. They used to have baklava, but I haven't seen it lately. I was told that they do not make it themselves, that it comes from another business...though most bakery items are made fresh at this location. Employees are friendly, I've never had a negative experience here. This store usually isn't too busy, though I have been there when it has been, usually on weekends it seems. Last time I was there, they also had uniquely designed handmade masks for both adults & children. Parking is plentiful. Definitely worth stopping at if you happen to be...
Read moreKitchen Garden is a delightful little gem in the lovely small town of Templeton, MA. Let me start with the baked goods. My goodness, are they absolutely delicious! Everything is so fresh and perfectly prepared. My favorite is the almond cupcakes, which I cannot leave this bakery without purchasing EVERY TIME. They have a similar texture to pound cake with an amazing flavor of buttery marzipan and lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar. The cookies are soft and chewy and come in a large variety of flavors. Honestly some of the best cookies I’ve had in years. The almond cake is stellar, the Nisu is a classic and something I grew up on, so it’s nice to have a nostalgic option at a small local business. I have yet to try the pies, but they are always so pretty and very tempting! The coffee is also very good and they offer several different options for creamers, including non dairy.
Now for the rest: Kitchen Garden also has a large variety of locally sourced gifts, a few items being yak products such as gloves, hats and scarves. There are lots of cute trinkets, magnets, games, candy and so much more. Lots of the items are Finnish related, which I think is really cool, but I may be biased as I am of Finnish descent. 😊
In the summer months, they offer ice cream with the option of incorporating some of their baked goods in, such as sundaes and in house baked cookie ice cream sandwiches. I highly suggest the oatmeal cookie with maple walnut ice cream as a combo! They also have a good sized outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. There are lots of flowers and it’s nicely landscaped. There’s plenty of parking and it’s easy to find. The staff are always friendly, pleasant and smiling. If you haven’t checked out Kitchen Garden yet, you are doing yourself a huge disservice and should go check...
Read moreTo be frank, I drove from Worcester Ma for The kitchen Gardens pie. My personal favorite is the Cherry pie. The service has been to this date awesome!!! Well, just once it did lack a little, the pie I wanted was out and I had to settle on a different pie which was just as good if not better, and for the drive back I had to take an advantage of a sticky bun. It's a small place but it's country, not the chain store if you know what I mean. Almost as good as the Southern roadside Mom and Pop stores. Well, I like the place and the drive from the city is refreshing, plus they cook/ bake from scratch, I am going to stop here like a true Southern I have a problem with my time to express myself 😇. Just don't know when to stop...
