Bruster's Real Ice Cream — Restaurant in Tennessee

I came here for the first time yesterday afternoon and found it to be a very disappointing experience. It’s really overpriced for what you get.

First of all the girl working was super rude and didn’t even bother to let me know I was waiting at the wrong window. Because the glass was closed I couldn’t see well through it with the glare. I was waiting for several minutes and finally wondered if it was even open. Then I realized I had to walk around to the side facing away from the parking lot to put my order in. There wasn’t anyone else there and she didn’t bother to greet me or to even apologize when I mentioned that I didn’t know I was waiting at the wrong window. They could at least have a sign that tells you to walk around.

Then I saw that a child’s 1 scoop of icecream was like $4.36 and a small ice cream with 2 scoops was like $4.67. So I asked if I could get a small and split it with the child I was with. She said she would have to charge me for two child’s cups. I was like ok I’ll split it myself. Can I just buy an extra cup? She acted so irritated and without responding or saying anything just charged me 60 cents for the cup and for a small ice cream cup- $5.77 total. Then she proceeded to give me the smallest amount of icecream in a child’s cup and handed me the two tiny cups to split it myself. She only gave 1 spoon and acted put out when I asked for another one. She didn’t offer the receipt. She didn’t say have a nice day. She was just rude from start to finish.

We each finished our tiniest amount of icecream in under 30 seconds. I’ve never been given such a small portion of icecream anywhere. More expensive than Switzerland for a tiny scoop...

My husband and I stopped in to get a treat. I ordered the orange sherbet (my favorite from here) , him cherry ice cream. My orange sherbet is beautiful, two large scoops almost falling off the cone. I bite into it and immediately hand it back to him to take back to the window . It was NOT the orange sherbet I ordered. It tasted like vanilla. The flavor was completely missing. He takes it back and I see him digging for his wallet. I am unnerved . When I order something, I’ve ordered time and time again with consistency, that I can’t expect consistency. And when we say something, we have to pay to get it replaced when it wasn’t right? So , here I go, in the freezing weather to the window to make sure he doesn’t pay for anything to correct the wrong he didn’t make , I’m met with “I didn’t make the ice cream cone” and “we make our ice cream fresh so the guy that made it sometimes does get it wrong” and finally “let me check with my shift leader to see what I can do”. It’s not rocket science. It’s ice cream. It wasn’t right. It wasn’t what I ordered. There are several people within ear shot , so ask who made it ! Maybe it wasn’t orange sherbet and there was a mistake made? No problem. Make a new one. Better yet, believe your customer . I’m not going to lie that the flavor was off on my favorite Bruster’s treat. The one thing I order every time I go there because it’s usually that good. Color and consistency, great. Flavor, TOTALLY wrong. enable your employees, even the ones in training, to make a situation right without an argument and without conflict. Do the right thing...

Wide variety of flavors, and the ice cream tastes great. However, for a place with “real ice cream” in the name, I was surprised to see this was the ingredients list on their website for the ice cream I ordered:
