Carl's Drive In — Restaurant in Tennessee

Out of the 4 years I have lived here I’ve given this place two chances the first they messed up my order no biggie, tried again today the lady taking my order was rude and unwelcoming. After pushing the button to place my order I waited a few moments and she says “say your order” with a hateful attitude. I placed my order and in return she confirmed my order and disappeared. No thank you no order total, nothing. Other customers were warmly greeted and even held conversations with, I did not feel welcomed I supposed it’s cause I’m not one of their usual customers but given the two chances I’ve given this place, my chances of returning a third time are slim to none. I enjoyed my meal in my car and watched as the car hop would smile and wave and check in on surrounding customers but not once was I checked on. Without a doubt the worst food I have ever had. I had for years passed this little local drive-in and saw lots of cars there and wanted to stop and try it. Finally the opportunity came and I was excited to try Carl's. Had a cheeseburger and onion rings. I could not eat the hamburger. The meat was so thin you could hardly tell there was any at all. The half green tomato had a large core in it and couldn't be eaten. The lettuce was beginning to rot. The only reason I gave the one star is because I did eat the onion rings. I also had a strawberry shake that I only took one sip of and threw it out. It was like flavored water ice instead of ice cream. Sorry to have to give this bad review but I was sooooo...

Maybe I just expected too much from the recommendations I'd received from friends, but I found Carl's Drive-In to be good, at best...and certainly not worthy of all the hype I'd received from a few friends.

First, it's a very small and popular lunch spot, so you might have difficulty finding a spot to park. It's like a mini version of a Sonic where you're waited on and eat right in your car. I had a cheeseburger, fries and a drink and it was all good...but just one notch above average. Maybe it was the thought of eating at such an old and established drive-in restaurant that was appealing, but I did enjoy my lunch.

Overall, it's good, but nothing special and though I'll return, I won't make a special trip...
