We visited here for lunch/an opportunity to stretch our legs on a long drive home from West Virginia. We love hot dogs and I'd had this spot bookmarked for a long time so I was happy we'd passed through.

The location is a little nondescript inside an older strip mall type of place. The inside was spacious and they were fairly busy even at a later lunch time. I wouldn't call the place totally spotless but certainly clean enough to feel comfortable eating.

You can place your order at the counter; the primary menu consists of hot dogs, of course, but they also have hamburgers and a few other meal options. One particularly bright part of the experience was the service. Each of the handful of employees I was interacted with was friendly, polite, patient, and eager to help.

I got an all-beef hot dog with fries; my parents got a hot dog each and split fries; and my husband couldn't decide what protein option he wanted so he wound up with a single hamburger and a "hawt" dog, which comes with chili, cheese, jalapeños, and sour cream.

Overall, everyone enjoyed their meals! I thought the hot dog was great -- cooked perfectly, nice consistency (I don't like a ton of snap), and the buns were fantastic. My dad felt similarly, though my mom said they were too garlicky for her preference. I tried a bite of my hubs' Hawt Dog since I like spicy food and also thought it was quite yummy. He said he felt it was a little too overloaded with toppings and he preferred the hamburger, but that both were good. The fries were disappointingly average, though the serving size was huge and good value for the money. I asked for ranch for dipping but I wound up not using any after discovering it was salad dressing style ranch and not my preferred buttermilk. Nice of the servers to accommodate me, though.

I was stuffed, but I also have a serious love affair with all things peanut butter and banana. When in Rome, and at the end of a vacation, too...I had to try the Elvis, which is a pair of their fancy and delicious toasted buns with peanut butter, banana, and marshmallow topping. It was a unique and satisfying confection, though if I got it again I'd ask for them to go lighter on the marshmallow drizzle. That may be personal preference, though -- I'm not huge on marshmallow.

Overall, a well-executed take on American classics with super-nice service. Definitely...

I had a very poor experience picking up a carryout order at D & B's Hot Dogs and Ice Cream this afternoon.

Upon arriving, I waited at the counter for some time without being acknowledged or assisted by any staff members. I eventually noticed an order sitting unattended on a small table past the counter. The table had a hand written sign to delivery drivers. I stepped to the table and saw that it was my order. I turned to an employee and advised her that this was my order. She told me that her boss is "CRAZY" and would "cut me and make me look like a pirate" if seen there.

She then said she needed to verify it was my order. I offered my ID, but she said that she need to see the phone that was used to place the order. I didn't have the phone used to place the order. Someone else ordered and I was to pick it up. She said again that her boss is "crazy" and that if she couldn't see the phone that it would appear as though they took "two hours" to prepare the food and she would be in trouble.

While I understand businesses have policies, the lack of proactive service and the employee's highly unprofessional comments about her boss's violent tendencies left me very uncomfortable. I hope management addresses these issues promptly, as this behavior is unacceptable in a customer-facing role. The staff may also benefit from additional training on properly handling carryout orders and verifying customer information.

With significant improvements to service, professionalism and order handling procedures, D & B's could provide a much better experience. However, I cannot currently recommend this establishment based on my...

Every single interaction with them today has been absolutely amazing. I order lunch for my team every single Weds, and I was introduced to this place this week, so I thought it would be something new to try out with my job. I had a question about online ordering, so I called the store. The person that answered was so lovely and offered to take my order over the phone instead to make it easier, but I told him I would have to call back because I wasn't quite ready. When I did call back, a different person answered and they were just as nice! It was a fairly large order and I asked if they wouldn't mind labeling names, the lady was happy to help accommodate and I was quite surprised at how quickly they said they could have it done by. When I went to pick up, the lobby was packed and there was a line. A fella immediately helped me with my to-go and even let me add some cookies for my team. He assured me it was double checked and labeled, and the entire time we spoke, he was so gracious and thanked me several times for thinking of them.

It was most of my shops first time eating here, and they are a hesitant bunch when it comes to new restaurants. Every single person was happy, satisfied, and several people said they were excited to actually go and visit, a couple even said the burgers were better than our normal spot. The hype is real with this place, try it out.

Like I said, I order lunch every single week for my team, and this by far has been the most pleasant experience I have had at any restaurant in the area. I will 100% order...

While this restaurant's unenviable location somewhat hampers the overall experience, positioned just off the dreaded "Pellisippi Speedway", there is nothing left to worry about once you walk through the door. The hamburgers are delicious, diner-style burgers with all their ingredients in perfect ratio. The potato salad is the best that I have ever had and is worthy of its own review. The ice cream is slightly over priced and selection is limited, but does not disappoint. The star, however, are the hot dogs. The buns are made of Texas toast that are lightly buttered and toasted around all-beef hot dogs that cannot be compared to store-bought hot dogs. The only-one-man dog is topped with pork roast and barbeque sauce, making it messy but worth the risk. The covered wagon is essentially a hot dog covered with a loaded baked potato and is definitely as good as it sounds. Look... if you've gotten this far in the post you are probably already onboard. It's a nice clean place with great tasting food. A trip to this place is your victory lap. You deserve it... You know you do. And once you're there, you'll appreciate the traffic, because you'll have the perfect excuse to have dessert while you wait for it to clear up.

This place is always busy. Service is friendly. Food is delivered to your table hot and fresh. Just watch one of the workers go through their complete selection of chips to someone on the phone. I personally would have just said we have potato chips, corn chips and Cheetos. She patiently went through every flavor. That is service above and beyond as far as I'm concerned. We had the megladog and the chili cheese dog with bacon and mustard. With rattlesnake fries and seasoned fries with ranch on the side. The food was out almost as fast as we could sit down. It was hot, fresh delicious. They are so very generous with toppings you really need a knife and fork.. or lots of napkins. I love their split top buns grilled with butter. If you like hotdogs, you will love the dogs they have here! They also have hamburgers, bbq and chicken sandwiches but the hotdogs are why we come. Highly recommend!!
