I honestly don't get all of the positive reviews about this place. It's as if the reviewers are not regular Mexican food consumers or they are still tipsy from the margaritas, of which they overpaid because they are from the same zip code and money isn't an issue. The only good thing about this place is the location. The food costs twice as much as it should - again, zip code. If there were any other Mexican food option within two miles then Don Gallo would have to shut down. This is a disgrace to Choto. We have given this place three tries and once more during the COVID shut down. The last time was the worst. I called 30 minutes ahead and still waited 20 minutes in the parking lot (six feet apart!!) and watched patron after patron get served and I asked several times about my order. The servers were too busy ferrying fresh (basic, overpriced) margaritas to the people in the parking lot to actually bring the food to people who called ahead. (Margaritas in a parking lot??? People, in a situation like this go home and make margaritas!!!) FINALLY a server asked me my name, disappeared for several minutes, and then came back with my order in a bag. It was on the front counter and had been for a very long time. I watched that big bag from outside and thought, "I'll bet that's mine." I searched the bag and asked where was the extra salsa I ordered and she said "it's in the bottom." I paid and left, got home, and there was not any additional salsa. We ordered two large bags of chips, a cheese dip, a supreme-grande nachos and got one small container of salsa. Also, our food was cold and we live 1.5 miles away. We ate a few bites of cold Mexican food with hardly any salsa and threw the whole thing away. $35 wasted. Don't go to this place. Drive a few more miles and...
Read moreThis place is decent for food. The complaint I have, is quite possibly new management. I’ve been here and have ordered the children’s macaroni and cheese for my little ones and there was one time I ordered online and I received a spicier sauce in the Mac and cheese. I told the worker over the phone and they apologized and said it was probably because I ordered from the main menu of the sides. They told me to next time make sure I order from the kids Mac and cheese. So a couple of months later, I order the Mac and cheese again. This time I called and made sure it was going to be the kids mac and cheese without the peppers in the sauce. They sounded a little confused but told me ok. I received it and it was the spicy sauce. I ended up speaking with the manager and he was very rude. He cut me off and told me they never had a Mac and cheese sauce without peppers in it. Funny because every time I had ever ordered it before, there were never any peppers in it until the previously time. I explained everything to him, or at least tried and was being very nice about it. He kept cutting me off and saying they never had any other sauce. I asked for a refund since I knew my daughter wouldn’t eat the spicy sauce. He said he would do it and then left to the back. I looked around, not sure if he was coming back to do my refund. I asked a waitress if he was coming back and she checked. She said he will do it and I’ll see it in 1-2 days. I waited a week and never received a refund. I tried calling several times since, the following 2-3 weeks and no one answers. I am letting it go since it was only $3 and something cents, but they have lost my business. They need a new manager that knows customer service and how to...
Read moreI placed a to go order tonight. The young girl who took my order (via phone) could NOT get my order correct….and I only ordered dinner for 2 people. I repeated my order 7 times…..SEVEN! She finally repeated it back to me correctly after the seventh time. When I arrived to pick up the order half of it was missing. I went back inside, explained to the young man that 2 enchiladas were missing. I shared with him how many times I repeated my order to the young girl and she still couldn’t get it right. He said she wasn’t good on the phone. THAT’S IT?!?! Are you kidding me?! I had not been charged for the 2 enchiladas so I paid and he said he would bring the order to my car. Five minutes later he came out and told me they had NO iNGREDIENTS to make 2 beef enchiladas. Now, I know this must have been untrue because they will reopen again tomorrow for lunch and will have plenty of ingredients. He said they had nothing to substitute either. He assured me he would void the charge but as of now it’s still showing up as a charge when I check my checking account.
Customer service is at an all time low at Don Gallo and has been for the last couple of years. The quality of food is also not what it used to be.
