04/23/24 ~ We've Said for 4 - 5 Year's ..... when we go by this place going somewhere else ( place was always busy / packed ) that it must be Good an we needed to try it . So today we did . It's a good drive from Home , but we've driven further . Love the inside of this place - all kinds of " Fish related things & other Memorabilia " in it.... Including at least 2 Fish 🐟🐠 Tanks. We ( 2 ) had the Fish / Chicken & Shrimp Meal , my 2 sides were Cole slaw & Fried Okra * my bread choice was Corn bread . Husband's was Cole slaw & Greens and Corn bread as well. Got a side order of Hush puppies to share.
Server was very nice.
I wasn't impressed with the Tarter Sauce flavor ** we didn't ask how it was made , but there was an odd almost Spice ( not meaning hot ) that I couldn't place it was . Should have asked . The Cocktail Sauce * could use a kiss more of Horseradish ( an I didn't like spice ) because it just tasted like Ketchup with added Vinegar 🤔? The Honey mustard for my Chicken was ok ... I thought the Shrimp were supposed to be Butterfly.. they weren't .... But I'll blame Husband because he read the Menu . I didn't care for Shrimp that aren't Butterfly * but figured I'd try them. The Batter that's used for either of these 3 * didn't hold up ..to me ....but should have ( an will , when I give it one more try * down the road ) asked for it to of been left down longer. Was kind of disappointed that there was no real " fish " taste to the Fish and the Shrimp * other than looking at them * wouldn't have known you were eating Shrimp * no Iodine taste what so ever . Chicken , really couldn't say .
Cole slaw is Mayonnaise based 👍 but it was 🤔 missing something. Breading on the Okra , didn't cling that well either.
We'll try again . Next time , I'll bring my 🤓 glasses and ask questions .
Still * it's...
Read moreI very much want local small businesses to succeed and be prosperous. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I do believe in honest feedback for the benefit of potential customers and for the business to improve. Went for lunch on a Tuesday at 1:00 PM. Waited a long time to get a menu, and another long time for the waitress to take our order. Our waitress was inattentive and very slow. After another server finally brought us menus, our waitress finally took our order after being asked to by the other waitress. She took the order and dropped off the food, which was the only times we saw her. We both had fried Alaskan whitefish, she thought the slaw and the $9.99 price were both good. My fish and onion rings were lukewarm and dry, like heat lamp food, only the fried green tomatoes were hot, crisp, and freshly fried. I was supposed to get hush puppies, but they were missing. I tried one of my partner's and it was great. If everything had been served hot and fresh from the fryer, the food would have gotten 5 stars instead of 3. It's really important that a restaurant that specializes in fried food (or even serves anything fried) serve it hot, fresh, and crispy from the fryer. Heat lamps or fried foods sitting around aging before being served is a very poor way to do business. I may try it again for something different, but it won't be my go-to for fried fish. Too bad, I was...
Read moreMy husband and I went here for dinner last night with a party of 15 to celebrate my Uncle’s birthday. Upon walking in, I noticed that the restaurant is extremely small and in disrepair. The walkway outside leading to the gazebo is collapsing. The tables, chairs and booths are mismatched, tattered and torn and the whole restaurant seemed very dirty. I did like the collection of old antiques and ocean themed decor up front, though. Our waitress was Pam and she was the best part of the experience, very nice and personable lady. The food was just meh in my opinion, I cannot eat seafood, red meat or pork due to severe gout so I was not able to partake in any of the seafood. My family seemed to enjoy their food immensely, I got the grilled chicken dinner with fries and a side salad. The salad was just ok, the lettuce was nasty because it was the exact same lettuce McDonalds uses on their McChicken sandwiches. The homemade ranch dressing was good. Fries were decent, fried pickles were good. My chicken was ok but it seemed like it was made with textured soy protein filler and water because it had that spongy feel to it. The “homemade yeast roll” that came with my dinner was obviously a store bought roll out of a pack. It wasn’t anything to write home about, I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to drive all the...
