Staff was very friendly and prompt in service. Every staff member we encountered was polite and maintained a warm, welcoming demeanor.
The interior and decor is a bit underwhelming. While I realize that the atmosphere in the environment is important, the staff and food make up for the dated interior. However, the booths, tables, and chairs appeared to be quality and were branded with the Nelo's name and a picturesque view on the table tops.
Our server was quick to take our drink order and bring out chips and salsa. The salsa seemed to be homemade and not store bought, which in my opinion, is a must for any good Mexican restaurant. The queso was delicious as well, it was creamy, but not overly thick, with a bit of heat.
The price point for everything, including seafood and steak items, was very reasonably priced.
My husband had the steak fajitas and I had Pollo Reyna. Both of our food arrived together, hot and fresh. The portion size was bigger than expected, but the quality of the food was exceptional. The veggies in the fajitas were vibrant and appeared fresh, the steak was tender and flavorful. The typical side items that came with the meal were rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, refried beans, lettuce, and sour cream. Again, the freshness of the veg items used was apparent. The guacamole and beans were house made and very flavorful.
The chicken I received was thin, but tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Chorizo was a bit charred on top which brought a nice crisp texture to the rest of the dish.
Another detail we appreciated was the softness of the tortillas that were provided with the meal. Not sure if they were house made or not, but they were soft and didn't have an overly processed taste like store bought.
Our total was just over 32 dollars, for 2 entrees, queso, and 2 beverages. If you haven't tried it, you should go and discover your new favorite Mexican restaurant...

Their aguas jamaica (hibiscus), horchata (cinnamon rice milk) and pina (pineapple) come with free refills! - we tried the Hibiscus and Pineapple, both very refreshing.
We started with the guacamole casero (house guacamole - it's made to order, the avocados in dish are thick chunks, we added jalapeños) it was also very fresh and filling!
We ordered the 12 plate taco special (disappointed they ran out of al pastor meat) it came with chicken (the kids loved it), asada (steak) & chorizo (mild sausage), it is served with the limes galore, sliced red radishes, 2 house spicy sauces, grilled nopales (cactus) & grilled whole onions with green shoots (these are a delicacy and not commonly found at restaurants and a definite MUST TRY)
We overzealously ordered another plate as well - the quesobirria (cheese & shredded lamb crispy tacos that are served with a tasty consume to dip the tacos in)
Our order took a bit long to arrive but the kitchen was in the midst of preparing a very large catering order to go when we arrived, all in all not a long time for the wait considering.
The service was fantastic and attentive, waitress was proficient in both English and Spanish.
Will definitely be back to try other menu items.
update 8/2022 STILL as delicious as the 1st time we went! this time the al pastor (chili pineapple pork) was available and it didn't disappoint! The staff is always so nice and...
Read moreThe service was probably the worst I’ve ever had. She brought 2 baskets of chips and salsa for 8 people and when we asked for more she got really frustrated. In fact, everytime I asked our server for anything at all, even something she said she’d bring and didn’t, she would roll her eyes and huff before saying “uh sure.” We’d been at the pumpkin patch and had some hungry kids so when we first sat down I asked her to put the kids order in while the adults looked at the menu. She looked irritated, but said sure. We sat there for close to 40 minutes waiting for food, then the adult food came with no kids meals. I asked about them and she actually yelled at me and said “I told the cook to make them first! He didn’t do it!” Then disappeared and we didn’t see her the rest of the time we were there. We had to wander around to ask someone how we could pay. The food was ok, no real complaints. If we hadn’t felt so unwanted we may have liked...
