Overall I'm very disappointed... I went in last night for dinner. I got a table near the bar. The bartender dropped me a menu and i ordered a liquid marijuana to drink which was very good and the only reason i have 2 stars for the food. I ordered their 8 oz hand cut ribeye med/rare with mashed potatoes and white gravy and the "vegetable of the day" green beans, also i ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich to go but told her i didn't want that started until i was almost done so it would be hot and fresh to take home to my mother. I asked when ordering if the ribeye was good and tender to which she replied "Its hand cut" as if that said everything. My order was slipped onto the table without a word from the waitress to see if I needed anything else so I had to wait and flag her down in order to get some Heinz 57 for it. The mashed potatoes had some watery white gravy on it that was barely enough to go a few bites and the vegetable of the day green beans was about half bacon and the beans were chewy. And I don't know what all to say about the steak but apparently whoever was cutting it doesn't know how to even cut a steak or for that matter how to make one medium rare. It was med/well and not all that tender plus it had a larger than golf ball size clump of fat hanging off one end and gristle down the sides. I wasn't halfway done with my meal when she came by and asked me if I wanted another drink which I ordered because as I said it was very good. Then my drink was delivered along with the Philly cheesesteak to go. And apparently that's the same price even when you get just a sandwich without the fries or anything. I don't know about the taste because I didn't eat it but it didn't appear to be much of a sandwich for 12 bucks. So I had to hurry and finish my food and down my second drink so I could try to get that sandwich home to my mom before it got cold and nasty. I am including pictures and I must say that I've never given this poor of a review to anyone. Which is sad because Reds used to make good food. The bartender / server I had was not personable at all and I must say for the price I'm very disappointed. That was a 19.00 steak that I had to take micro bites of just to chew it. I haven't eaten at Red's in a long time and I'm sorry to report that the quality seems to have gone downhill. In the pictures the pile on the left is the bacon left over after I ate the green beans. You can see the mashed potatoes left after the little bit of gravy was gone and the chunk on the upper end of the steak is just a big ball of fat. And for $50 plus tip as i said i was very...
Read morePopped in here as we were staying at the Wyndham @ Fairfield Glade Resort and it was a mere 4 minutes away! There were many locals gathered after a morning of golfing and others getting out for their weekly luncheon meetings or celebrating a special birthday. The place is welcoming as soon as you walk in the door and are greeted both with a special of the day board and a nice waitress to seat you. Enjoyed the minimal yet practical decor. Many people called in to-go orders while we were there.
We started with the 10 PC Teriyaki Wings ($8) and each opted for the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries ($8 ea) and finished with a piece of Peanut Butter Pie ($4) to go.
Wings- If you like your wings crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside with all the sauces then choose the naked style like we did! They were large pieces of plump & juicy chicken that did not disappoint!
Bacon Cheeseburger & Fries- The bacon was delightfully crispy without having to put in a special request for it to be so. They use beautiful fresh produce so the lettuce was leafy & green and the tomatoes were a decent cut. Not sure if the pickles were made in house or not but they were a fresh, sharp dill without being overly salty. The fries were lightly battered and fried to a nice crunch on the outside with a touch is seasoning and a warm, airy, potatoey inside.
Peanut Butter (Mousse) Pie- I add the word mousse here because that is how it should have been labeled, technically speaking. The pie was light and fluffy with a thin layer of what tasted like Hersey's Chocolate Syrup on top. The flavor was good but it wasn't the densely rich peanut butter consistency of pie and a shelled chocolate top or chocolate shavings that I know and love from Charleston. Not a bad thing, by any means... just a little difference in...
Read moreI want to preface this review by saying the service was awesome. The restaurant was nearly empty about 3:30PM on a Saturday and our waitress was attentive.
We’ve tried Reds several times at their new location, and this visit solidified we won’t be returning. We frequented the location on Dartmoor quite often, bringing friends and family and frequently getting take out. The food quality now is entirely different. I had the chicken tenders platter with fries and coleslaw. My wife had the 8oz ribeye with green beans and mashed potatoes. Their chicken tenders are now a pre-breaded, frozen tender that is deep fried. Odd enough, the breading reminds me of a cheap tilapia fish breading. The fries were fine and the coleslaw again seemed like pre-prepared out of a tub. Not at all like I remembered. My wife ate about 2oz of her 8oz ribeye. The medium-rare part was done right. The seasoning seemed like a sprinkle of Montreal steak seasoning and nothing more. It was also an incredibly tough steak, very tendon-y and lots of fat and gristle. She had me try a bite and I spit it out. The mashed potatoes are no longer home made and are an instant potato. The green beans were bacon heavy and decent. For the cost of the food, it was unacceptable. I’m sure the bar food, wings and such, are likely still passable, but their other entrees leave a lot to be desired. Somehow this place stays slammed every evening. I’m...
