Dawns Place Cafe on Texanna — Restaurant in Texanna

We went to Dawn's place because it was recommended by a friend; and I really wanted to love everything about the place. Let's start with the positives. It's a cute little establishment, kind of a mom's home cooking kind of a place. And those that were there seemed to be having a good time. I myself found it a bit noisy and bright. I have some noise and light sensitivity, so it may have just been me.

I ordered the catfish which was the special, it came with hush puppies and two sides. I added onion rings and french fries. I really wanted to love this meal. The hush puppies were good and the onion rings were fabulous. The French fries I found were just ok. I ate two of the four pieces of catfish because I was really hungry and kept thinking I would really like it If I just took another bite. I think there was celery salt as a seasoning or something similar I just could not get past. The texture of the fry was perfect, the cook on the fish was perfect, but I did not care for the seasoning. I would have preferred a cajon or just salt and black pepper with lemon. It came with two portions of tarter sauce, and this too was not my cup of tea. Too much mayo, and not enough lemon, pickles and onion.

Speaking of tea, I ordered sweet and it was very good.

It's such a cute little place and I wanted to be able to give a great review, but it was mostly not to my liking this time. I do plan on going back and trying something more traditional like a burger. And I will most certainly order the onion rings to go with it.

If you have never been to Dawn's Place don't let this review make you not want to try it. The things I did not care for were very much a me thing, and I think others would have not have been as picky.

Update: They have done a ton of updating and this place is just so great. They added a new outdoor seating area and it's so beautiful. We ate there today. It was so affordable and delicious. 💜 We don't even live close anymore and drove over an hour to eat and do fall stuff. We love this place.

This place is great. We ate biscuits and gravy with sausage, and a side of hash browns. It was so good! It came out really fast and wasn't packed when we were there. It was clean and the bathrooms were maintained. My son had the kids waffle. He ate the whole thing and asked for a pancake too. It was great....

5 stars What a happy surprise to find Dawn’s Place tucked away off Texana Road in Eufaula! The food was incredible—especially the pancakes, which were literally as big as your face! Most of our group ordered the Dawn’s Deluxe Breakfast and were not disappointed. My sister had the cheese omelet, and I went with the blueberry crepes filled with sweet cream—absolutely delicious!
