We’ve eaten here three times around the noontime hour. The first time, we were seated by the ladies room, the table was wobbly and the ceiling light was flickering. So we asked if we could move and were moved to another table in between the dining area and bar area, music was loud. The place was full of a bunch of grade school kids and their parents, like after a sports event, so kids were running everywhere and it was noisy. When settling at the different table, we asked about chips and salsa, the waitress suggested the appetizer trio, so we said ok, we had not seen a menu yet. We ordered tea and the tea was served in nice glass tumblers that sweat and drip everywhere. The utensils are in nice cloth napkins, so you can wipe up the dripping glasses. The appetizer trio amount brought out was enough for 10 people, the presentation awesome, but the salsa bland, guacamole good, queso bland, lots of chips, out of a bag, not cooked and was $15 dollars, we didn’t know until we finally got the menu. We ordered a chicken fried steak, onion rings and a ribeye burger with fries. The chicken fried steak was grizzly and over cooked. The onion rings overcooked. The ribeye burger cooked correctly was messy, no condiments were offered, the bill was 60+tip, no discount for Seniors Citizens. We waited a year before we returned, on a whim. The senecio was similar, seated by the restroom and the blinking light, but this table wasn’t wobbly and the waitress fixed the flickering light, and very attentive, we ordered tea, no appetizers and plain bacon cheeseburgers, which are served with no condiments ands wasn’t offered any. The bill $35+tip, no senior discount. Two weeks later we returned and guess what, we were seated at the wobbly table, flickering light by ladies room, so we asked to be moved and were put again in the middle of the bar/dining room with blasting music instead of a quiet table on the opposite side of the restrooms where no one was sitting. We ordered chips and salsa for $6, and a turkey club sandwich with onion rings and a jalapeño avocado burger with fries. The chips were fried, but burnt and the huge bowl of salsa was just tomato purée, no flavor or spice. The jalapeños on the burger were fresh ones and hot, they needed to be in the salsa. We asked for mayonnaise and catsup this time, and told the waitress that the chips were burnt, but was never offered a replacement or offered no charge for the burnt chips, the burger was good, the turkey club had missing bacon, and the toasted bread was thick, crusty and overpowering, the onion rings batter fell off and was messy. The bill was $38+tip and no Senior discount. The waitress on the second visit was the best. The burger meat each time was good and cooked correctly plus you get plenty food portions. The ladies restroom has uneven tiled flooring that could cause a stumped toe or worse. So…if I return after being somewhat disappointed three different tries, I’ll let you know...
Read moreThis was my second time coming to Black Creek. The first time was a year ago and I remember it being a decent place. I can't say the same this time around. I ordered a bacon cheese burger, medium well, no tomatoes, no onions and asked to add mayo and avocado. When I got my burger I cut it in half and it was medium rare. I didn't want to send it back so I decided to give it a try. When I bit into the burger it was spicy, that's when I realized there was guacamole and not avacado. I notified the server that the burger was spicy and had tomatoes and onions from the guacamole and that I wanted plain avocado. I also told him at that time that the burger was medium rare. He said he would let the cook know. The server came back and said the cook wanted to know if I still wanted my burger medium well or did I want it well done because medium well still has a little pink in the middle. I said right it's supposed to be pink not red. Yes I want my burger medium well please. When I got my burger it was well done and the patty was really thin as if it had been pressed really hard on the grill. The edges were burnt to a crisp. This cook took my complaint personally and was obviously insisting that I didn't know what medium well was and took it upon himself to make the decision to char the burger. I paid $50 for 2 meals and 2 sodas. That is way too much to pay for something I didn't want. I asked to take the food to go at that point and still tipped my waiter because it wasn't his fault and he remained polite...
Read moreAlways a blessing to find places that don't use latex gloves! We were excited to have a new and different option in our small town. Enjoyed the new layout and added hostess stand and eco-friendly me loved the fact they use cloth napkins. The staff was pleasant and friendly but we are hoping we can chaulk up our experience to the fact that the staff was young and obviously still learning. The wine list had lots of options as a nice surprise. We ordered fried pickles and they didn't disappoint- HOT and crispy. Overall the portions were ok to satisfy hunger but we aren't fond of the higher prices and current lack of price variety- maybe that will change with a lunch menu. The pan seared salmon was a little overcooked but was good as were the sweet potatoes and green beans- if visiting again I'd re-order it. I would not say the same for the chicken fried steak. The batter tasted burnt and the meat was extremely bland and tasted if it was not cooked- even if we had salt and pepper to taste after the fact it wouldn't be enough. This plate also came out almost 10 minutes later than the rest of ours. The sides were ok, creamed corn and mashed potatoes, as was the gravy but nothing to rave about. Our teen ordered the smokehouse bacon cheese burger but hardly touched it, and our little from the kids menu ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce (it would be nice if the spaghetti had a meat option add on). We are open to try them again, maybe lunch. Hope your...
