Third rate restaurant:
This past weekend my family and I drove in from New Mexico to spend the weekend at the coast and to visit relatives. Of our time there we all decided our last meal for the weekend together would be at this establishment. Considering the condition of the area and the destruction that the most recent hurricane had caused, this place was in great condition. Driving to it was awesome! Expectations were high!
Until we got inside. The interior is nice and clean. The one âmenâs/womenâsâ bathroom is really unfortunate and so is the one âfamilyâ restroom.
Prices are poorly expensive - but my family are not used to legitimate seafood restaurants... to that, I am okay with the prices. The food was good. But not near as good as we thought it would be.
What really turned me off was the poor quality of staff. The poor quality of the tables and the chairs... the important stuff ya know?
Our table alone likely spent close to $100.00 if not more (an older relative paid for it all.) You see... the prices of the food alone - in my own opinion - should easily be able to purchase so tables that are stable and do not rock back and fourth (why do EVERY ESTABLISHMENT HAVE THE SAME POOR ONE STAND/THREE LEGGED TABLES??!)... the wait staff would very disrespectfully reach across the table in front of you... just randomly say stuff down without an intent of where a plate, cup and etc would go...
Maybe Iâm griping at nothing... but youâd think this place being in business as long as it has been would comfortably well off in all aspects of the business. No one seemed to have a clue of any âevery day routeâ?... Iâm not sure I know a better way to explain that other than... this entire staff looked like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off.
At an average of $20.00 - $25.00 a plate youâd think that would pay for some wait trainings...
To the owners: I understand itâs a small town. Keep and treat it that way. Until then you just seem to be biting off more than you can chew.
To the readers: Unless invited to attend lunch or dinner at this restaurant my family alone who on most days would probably spend $80.00 alone here - we wonât be returning.
Nothing like a third rate restaurant in a small town trying to compete with the likes of big...
Read moreWe waited years before trying this place. Some people told us it was good and we were excited to finally make a date with friends to do so. We had heard it was pricey. Price did not seem to be an issue as the menu prices were in the range of other seafood restaurants we had been to. First of all there were four of us. We tried to order a reasonably priced bottle of wine to share and the waitress came back to tell us they were out of our choice and we found there was no alternative except in the high price range. They had not restocked after Valentine's Day. We made some other choices. The food we ordered seemed reasonable. The difference between this place and others was obvious when the food was served. It took a very long time for plates to arrive. Some salads were served. The bread came late although it was warm and fresh, but we had to ask for butter. Then more time passed and the first plate arrived by itself. There were 3 more of us waiting for food. A large white plate with very small scallops and a scoop of mashed potatoes was set down in front of our friend. His eyes were bigger than the scallops đ±. It was pathetic and not very appetizing. There as no garnish at all. We waited and waited and finally the other plates started to arrive. Again no garnish and the smallest shrimp and scallops we had ever seen. The sides were another disappointment. The green beans were overcooked, the pecan wild rice was dry and had a few crumbs of pecans (no flavor)and the spicy black beans and corn had very little beans with corn that did not seem fresh and was also overcooked. We arrived at about 5:15 on a Monday and the place was not that busy. There seemed to be a lot of people working in the kitchen. It was hard to fathom the reason behind our experience. Needless to say, this is something we probably won't repeat...
Read moreLong post but worth the read. Been wanting to eat here for many years ,just never got around to it. Glad I took the time this time. First thing I liked is that from the outside the place looks clean and inviting. As I stepped in promtply at 5pm I could smell the light odor of bleach in the air and I knew thr restaurant had been cleaned. Then I got a quick greeting from a gentleman sitting near the entrance with a "Hello, come on in.". I didn't know it at the time but that was the owner. The hostees was polite and quickly sat us at our table. Wow, what a view. The interior was painted a light coastal blue and the tables and chairs were new and clean, as was the floor. Our waitress, Sarah, promptly introduced herself and took our drink order. Now , here is where I noticed a big difference from other wait staff in my home town ( a large city). Our waitress took our drink order with patience politeness and with the correct response when I said thank you. She continued that till we left. Not one time did she repsond to us with a "no problem or an uh huh). It was always yes , no thank you or a proper simple explanantion with something on the menu. Great service there. On to the food...There were four in our party. Our food came out quickly, hot and properly plated. It was eye appealing as well as great tasting. Nothing was over or under cooked. Delish. Fully satisfied. I highly recommend this place for great food and atmosphere. Can't wait to eat there again. My only complaint.....with they would open earlier so that I could have more time to digest...
