Ok. I’m really rooting for these guys because I’m a neighbor and we really want to have great places to eat nearby. They spent a ton of money renovating the Omni Barton Creek which was wanted and needed.
However this is our second attempt at Crenshaw’s and both times have been marginal. The one tonight was not so much the bar and staff which we actually liked. It was totally about the kitchen. The menu is pretty basic and uncomplicated. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a red fish Po’boy. These are not complicated entrees and we were hungry. So first attempt to get us food took 30 minutes. There was no shortage of staff with three people behind the bar + servers + kitchen runners, and it wasn’t busy. The problem seemed to be in the kitchen. And then after waiting that long, the fries that came as a side were cold. We asked if they could at least heat them up in a microwave. They said no, we’ll get you new hot fries.
Sounded like a good story. Little did we know the replacement fries would take another 20 min—a long time after it takes to eat a sandwich. We got tired of waiting so we called for the bill. As we’re leaving the bar the (hot?) fries showed up, but they never even put them in front of us since we were already walking from the bar. They were kind enough to comp the entree with the cold fries.
But there’s clearly a problem when on a Friday night at least an hour before closing time, we get this kind of service from the kitchen. And then to add insult to injury we had to pay a $10 valet charge for such shabby results. The valet said we could get it comped if we went to the Bob’s next door and got validated. But not for an Omni food venue. Does this make sense? Before the renovation, Barton Creek Country Club members did not have to pay for valet other than gratuity. now we do—not an upgrade!
So all in all, this was not a great experience. Once again I’ll say, please Omni—do something to fix this. I don’t think it’s that hard. You spent way too much money on the facility to deliver such a mediocre & disappointing experience. If nothing else, have some Austin pride and make this place something the locals can be proud of as you host so many out of town guests. We are still rooting for you, but I’m afraid it won’t be at Crenshaw’s after our second...
Read moreI visited this place with friends over the weekend, and while the location was beautiful and the food decent, the service was severely lacking. The food took an unreasonably long time to arrive, and we only saw our waiter three times throughout the entire meal. In fact, we saw the person cleaning up more frequently than our own waiter, which speaks volumes about the service we received. At one point, we even had to ask the busser to find our waiter, and yet he still didn’t show up.
I only managed to get one drink refill, and to make matters worse, our waiter neglected to inform us that the bill could only be split among three cards before we started ordering. This was particularly frustrating since I had already spent a significant amount at the resort for a three-day weekend getaway. I deliberately chose something inexpensive from the menu and stuck to drinking soda. Out of the six people in our group, I only knew two, and the others were complete strangers. Due to the waiter's lack of communication, I ended up paying for more than my fair share, effectively doubling my portion of the bill. The others had ordered drinks and extras, which I ended up covering for people I didn’t even know. To top it off, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to each of the three bills.
Honestly, tipping should reflect the quality of service received. Given that our waiter was largely absent, hiding in the back and chatting with co-workers, I wouldn't have tipped him what he got from our table. His service was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t busy at all—there were only two other tables...
Read moreI have been to Crenshaw's more times than I can remember. Out of all the restaurants, this one has the best vibe, food, service and price point. I love the view from the restaurant and patio, and everything that I have had on the menu is top notch. I can't say enough great things about the service. Everyone is always so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
If I can make a recommendation though, they need to do something about the HVAC system. The temperature doesn't seem to be regulated and over these past few months it seems to be very warm in there. The HVAC seems very comfortable outside of the restaurant and all throughout the building. But inside it has not been comfortable this summer. I hope they can get someone to address this soon, as it affects the dining experience.
I have worked in the service industry before. It does seem like they always over staff there for the amount of people they get in the restaurant. From the outside looking in, it makes you feel for the staff. But they always keep a smile on, and provide...
