Been going here to the Fish Pond for 13 years and can't say enough good things about them! The chicken fried steak is always awesome, the Onion Rings are perfectly cooked and brought to the table steaming hot, yummy! If you want to delight your taste buds, order the chicken fajitas with homemade tortillas, so ridiculously good, mmmmm. Catfish comes out crispy on the outside and moist n flaky on the inside. If you're old school, order the liver and onions because it will just melt in your mouth. I'm very picky about liver, Fish Pond gets it right!! Sides are really done well and just perfectly complement any meal you order. So homey, kitschy and quirky but any time of the day they're going to serve you like you're family coming home for an awesome meal. If it's packed and a little loud, service may run a little slow, but that's only because they take the time to get it right. If your server forgets a side, just politely remind them and they will bend over to make it right for you. They are human after all, and a little respect goes a long way. One more thing, just remember they pay bills and need to support their families and really deserve good tips for taking care of you. My Mom waitressed for decades, sore feet deserve good shoes and awesome tips. ENJOY THE MOMENT WITH YOUR...
Read moreFish pond is known for its large portions, but not when it comes to the Shrimp PoBoy. What a disappointment in soooo many ways. There used to be a commercial, "Where's the Beef, in this case it was Where's the shrimp???? For a 6" inch poboy, there were 3 shrimp. THREE, really? Granted they were large shrimp, but there was much more bread than shrimp. Too many bites of sandwich with no shrimp. Yes, brought it to the server's attention, who advised the owner. Thanks! Solution, owner said yes, there must have only been three shrimp! Really, how did I know that???? (I blindly munched on the first half expecting, hoping for more shrimp and then looked inside the remaining half to see the ONE lonely remaining shrimp) The server sincerely apologized. While appreciated, I expected more. Maybe we will address with the cook, take the item OFF the menu, something. So if you want a bread sandwich, hey, order the shrimp poboy (you won't be disappointed the bread was good), or just go the store, buy a loaf of bread and save some money.
My fiance's burger and sweet potato fries were good. We've had other good meals here. I'll order my next poboy either at Sleepy's by NRG or in...
Read moreUsed to be one of my favorite restaurants to eat at but after last experience my family won’t be back. Along with a substantial price increase which is expected in this economy the portions and quality has dropped off. My squash was way over cooked and unedible, the Texas toast portions used to be two pieces now is 1, tiny side salad was $5.50, side order of onion rings which they used to give you a fair amount is now six(6), chicken fried steak was smaller thinner and slightly over cooked. The fish was supposed to be catfish but definitely didn’t taste or look like the old catfish. If they had done a price increase with the old portions and food quality that would have been fine but with the new changes no thanks. It was sold to new owners who obviously don’t have a clue about the business because they went and ruined a good thing. We have ate here for years since we live so close but now I think we will be at 105 Cafe...
