This is Vanessa.
Thank you for acknowledging Franklin's kind spirit and good heart, his extra hard work as a cook, dishwasher, cleaner and everything else you needed him for; his professionalism, his respectfullness and his humility in working in such an abusive, hostile work environment at Las Barcas.
Typically, I do not respond to such assenine posts.
I prefer to let our justice system run its course.
But...
I am driven to help those who have No Voice.
You all already know amd wetr told by many that helping others is MY CALLING.
I have known Franklin for roughly 3 weeks....the same as you. Therefore, to state that I am only defending and protecting him because he is a "close one" is absurd.
The truth will always prevail.
You all should be very embarrassed by your behavior and actions.
To have the audacity to post Franklin's personal situation online all while pleading your innocence by the few good things you have done...thinking that this will clean your dirty hands and erase all the wrong doing....is typical.
Similar to the abusive father who beats his son relententlesly to later only take him out for ice cream to make everything alright.
Abuse is abuse no matter what the benefits are at the end.
Quick to blame your own blood for all the damage than to accept your own part in the abuse.
Shame on you all!
To all of you who stand by and do nothing while the abuse is occurring....
YOU ARE ALL JUST AS GUILTY.
Franklin is NOT YOUR FIRST victim but Power comes in Numbers.
According to your own post, Las Barcas has lost many employees due to your own blood.
I pray that you and your mother find your own Voices. I pray that you both can stand up to your own demons, no longer enable, and stand with me and not against me in the fight against abuse.
This will be my First and last post.
We are not cut from the same cloth. You are not like me. You do not have the same amount of love, respect and compassion that I have for everyone....including strangers. I will not expose your dirty families secrets. However, I can not control what others post about thier experiences with food and employment at Las Barcas.
Tik Tok is contageous and world wide. Interesting how many others have similar experiences working at a restaurant called Las Barcas.
No worries. Im sure your family can substantiate all the claims against your exemplary establishment.
So kindly keep my name and Frankin's name out of your mouth and post.
Thank...

And then, every now and then, the people set themselves apart, and they become more important than the food. No doubt it's one of the better Mexican food places on the lake. It has a drive-through, which, for me, really really makes it easy to come in and do a drive-by on my way to the job site. Its location is perfect, but the girls that work there? Are by far the hottest waitresses on the lake and the best at what they do. The service is right on time. Definitely, my #1 go to place for lemonade.

Well, it's been a while since I've been there until last night. This part of the story speaks to its livability. Read on.
They had an internal issue, and without going into anything, I'm not 100% sure of, but the cook was out taking orders. Regardless of whether my favorite girls were there or not, the food was still smoking hot and right on time. Enchiladas with rice and beans steaming away the night were dropped right in front of me and Monster. Fresh tortillas and cold, cold lemonade as always. Another awesome meal at my favorite spot. Spotlight ADD- There are people in this world that we admire because of how much they have. Some we admire because of who they are, like movie stars. In this world, there are those who have overcome adversity at its very hardest point of impact, and regardless of what life has thrown at them, they managed to come out of it shining bright. One such young lady is Crystal from Las Barcas. None of your biz what her story is. Just trust me when I say there's a little boy that I've been watching grow into a young man who is well loved and very well taken care of because of the awesome mom he has. She did something very few of us that have tried were very successful in. She did it. The most precious thing that we as humanity hold is the innocence in that of a child's smile, and Crystal is making sure she honors her obligation to God to preserve that young man's smile. God bless him. Good stuff. Good moms are a dying breed. They no longer raise their children to be socially acceptable. No longer do kids have to say yes sir/no maam, or even be nice. Kids lack the social skills that will allow them to succeed more easily in life. This young man is going to be ok by anyone's standards. Thank you Crystal, for having the integrity to raise strong children so that we don't have to...
Read moreStepping into La Barcas is like being warmly enveloped in a kaleidoscope of vibrant flavors, intoxicating aromas, and an ambiance that dances gracefully between rustic charm and festive exuberance. From the very first moment I crossed the exquisitely adorned threshold, I was met with the kind of effusive hospitality that feels both heartwarmingly genuine and almost cinematic in its perfection.
The tacos? Divine. The carnitas were so tender they practically composed a love song on my palate, while the al pastor radiated with a smoky-sweet symphony of well-balanced spices and juicy brilliance. The enchiladas were bathed in a velvety, soul-hugging sauce that felt like a secret recipe passed down through generations of culinary wizards.
The margaritas sparkled with zesty charisma, a citrus-laced elixir of delight that could charm even the most stoic taste buds. The guacamole—oh, the guacamole!—was a transcendent blend of creamy, chunky, tangy, and fresh that defied all guac-related expectations.
However, in the midst of this borderline euphoric dining experience, I encountered a single, heart-sinking omission: they did not have Tajín. Yes, the gloriously tangy, mildly spicy, citrus-infused seasoning of the gods was nowhere to be found. My dreams of dusting every bite with that iconic crimson magic were, alas, dashed. A small but noticeable gap in an otherwise near-perfect culinary symphony.
Still, La Barcas remains an enchanting gem in the world of Mexican cuisine—joyous, flavorful, and brimming with colorful charisma. One star gently withheld, not out of malice, but in hope… that one day, Tajín shall grace these tables, and perfection will...
