Leon's Steakhouse Saloon — Restaurant in Texas

I been to Leon’s before but I don’t go often as there are a few things I cannot stand . First off you can eat in main area due to cigarette smoke . Second even if you go to back room you can still smell smoke and your food will have cigarette smell and taste . I went last night and the smoke made me get such a bad headache i realized this is just a place for smokers . The food usually was good in past but now it nolonger makes sense . I ordered a steak sandwich which came with pieces of cube steak that wouel not stay in sandwich . Why cube ? Why not slice it so I can eat my sandwich . My hands were constantly putting my meat back into sandwich . I asked for med rare steak but got well done steak which was way over cooked making the meat hard . Forget about feee refills they only serve canned soda at 1:50 each . Takes two sides to fill their size cups which is a normal cup you get at a restaurant. So takes four sodas to have two cups . That’s 6 bucks . So I ordered two sodas and then asked for water . The darkness of the back room was kinda depressing and being on cement floor made me feel like I was in a back alley . The out dated chairs gave me a bingo vibe . I’m sure when bands are there it must be nicer . This place caters to the smokers and it shows . I felt liek a unwanted guest the whole time and felt left alone in back . Waitress was not the friendliest but she is also quite young . I wanted to live this place because I remember having a good steak here before . I think that was in the past and will stay forever that way. I don’t get why they don’t create laws for establishments who serve food to have people smoke outside so food is not tasting like ciggs . I guess this is a steakhouse meant for...

One of the best steaks you can buy in East Texas! There isn't very many places these days that you can go sit down in a restaurant/pool hall/bar/concert venue and get the quality service you get at Leon's. The waitress staff are always eager and welcoming and the cooks have been on point every time we have eaten there. The one and ONLY negative is the price, but I suppose that should be expected when you get that great service and food. The pool tables are in decent shape and there is usually a couple of people there up for a friendly match or two. The concert venue in the back is way bigger than I expected. It's massive with a stage at the far end. Plenty of space for local bands to go and jam and also for the whole family to pile up in the family vehicle and go watch the show together (if you can afford that sort of thing). I have 3 little ones that eat me out of house and home as it is, so I can't be getting all kinds of crazy like that and then have to file bankruptcy lol. So my wife and I had a date night. She decided that she wanted a steak. I Google searched the best steaks around and they had a great review on their steaks. We got all dressed up and drove 40 min and the woman at the front asked if we want smoking or non smoking. My wife absolutely hates the smell so I said the non smoking will be awesome. She told me to go through that door over there( points to it) I said ok ty. Went through the door and seemed as a band was setting up. Didn't know anything about a band nor did I care about the music at all. The gentleman said this is a $10 cover charge I was like huh? I said the lady told me to come in here for non smoking. He said yeah well there's a band tonight so you have to pay. The wife wanted to turn around and leave. But me wanting her to have a good steak I said ok I'll pay the $10 then he said it's $10 a person. So the wife and I had decided just to leave. It's sad that I can't enjoy a steak without smelling cigarettes and having to pay 20 so I don't have to. They didn't care either way. I'm sure they dont mind loosing money from a few here and there. But would be nice to be able to cater to smoking and non smoking ppl. Anyway there's my review. Hope it helps someone not waste time and look like a jerk...
