Ranch Hand Cafe was a surprise to me for sure. I don't normally like this small side of the hwy restaurants because I have always been disappointed in them.
But, the Ranch Hand was actually really goid!! The staff was very courteous & ready to serve. The menu had plenty of items to choose from & the food came out great.
I always compare restaurants with foods I regularly order when I eat out. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with country white gravy & because of most restaurants rarely giving enough gravy to cover the chicken & potatoes so I ordered an extra side of gravy to add with it. I also ordered fried okra & mashed potato. My husband ordered their patty melt & onion rings & my kids got the chicken strips & fries.
Everything came out perfect. I did not need to order an extra gravy because this was the first restaurant I have been to that actually give plenty of gravy.
The chicken strips were good & portions were great. My husband said his patty melt was huge, more than he could eat but good. He also ordered the fried corn balls which all of them loved.
The only thing I did not like was their tea. It appeared a bit milky & tasted like cheap tea. But, I was told that all of their meats were fresh & not frozen prepackaged already cut meats.
All the food was great & I would recommend everyone in the area check this place out. It looks like someone's fixed up barn with that old house country look but, don't let the look of the building discourage you. The food is actually very good, the staff is great & the pice is really good too. We usually go to Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, Logans, etc. & I woukd put the Ranch Hand Cafe in the same basket of choices as any of these. Foodwise they are in the same league & price wise, they are much better.
Be sure & tip your servers goid though. They earn it. We will definitely visit them again. They are much closer that having to drive all the way to New Caney & in my opinion they are much better than the...
Read moreFood was great but very disappointed in customer service. One waitress had a tray full of drinks and was going around the corner behind my husband and another waitress was coming up the ramp and they collided, spilling the drinks onto my husband. I was furious but my husband was very calm about it so I refrained from making a scene. One server couldn’t stop laughing about it while others were very apologetic. I see absolutely nothing funny about spilling drinks or food on customers. My husband just had hip replacement surgery 3 weeks ago and the sudden jolted movement caused his hip to begin hurting, not to mention the additional 10 minutes of time he had to stand while they cleaned up the mess. Once they were done, his food was cold so he wasn’t even able to finish eating but this wasn’t a concern to them. The lack of customer courtesy to even offer to comp our meal was very disappointing and shows very little respect to the customer for their careless actions, making it obvious that money is their utmost concern. One of the servers even made a comment that it happens all the time!! Why doesn’t management make an effort to correct the problem such as moving that table from that corner leading to the ramp OR have the servers going down to stay to the outside of the ramp and the servers going up the ramp to stay to the inside, to avoid future accidents such as this or even worse!!!! My advice is to pay close attention to the servers as they carelessly and rapidly move through the...
Read moreStopped off at this place while near Cleavland area. Laid back country vibe. Waitress was friendly and down to earth. The food was crazy good. I had a patty melt with tots. The tater tots were cooked to golden crispy brown. They had some heavy crispiness which is exactly how I like my tots. The patty melt came on 2 perfectly toasted slices of thick(er) bread. Half pound patty of well seasoned beef with sweet caramelized onion and melted swiss. Just enough patty sauce to taste but not enough to soggy the bread. Abousolute insanity on how delicious yet simple this was. Oh, did I mention it was only $12.50? My lady decided on the grilled chicken with fries and green beans. The huge, tenderized chicken breast was under a large pile of sauteed peppers and caramelized onion, which were lightly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chicken was thick, juicy and very tender. Seasoned nicely, like it was made by 1/3 Gordon Ramsey 2/3 Grandma. So very good. Green beans were flavorful and southern style without the heavy saltiness you get from allot of southern, soul food style green beans. The fries were super crisp on the outside and like a light, fluffy mashed potato inside. Some of the best fries I've had and I am almost a professional connoisseur lol. That lunch/dinner plate was around $15. Verdict: easily one of the best diners/cafes I've ever had. Great food, great service and great prices. If you are in this area I woul consider this a MUST STOP. It...
