Bread Box is a quirky spot, with a winding, cramped layout, and a patio that would benefit from a power wash. We tried the crispy chicken sandwich and the egg and bacon breakfast. The bread (bun and toast) was good, and the chocolate chip cookie that came with the chicken sandwich was baked perfectly and scrumptious. Unfortunately, the restaurant's chicken supplier is doing the Box - and diners - a disservice. The breaded chicken breast was sinewy, and difficult to chew. This was a shame, because the flavor was solid - a bit of spice and savory. The eggs and bacon were good but underwhelming, as was the oversized marshmallow square we added on last minute. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the Bread Box.

The Bred Box is a cute tea party space with a variety of interesting shops in the surrounding area. I came here for a baby shower and thought the atmosphere was perfect. There were a couple of baby showers going on at the same time, so be prepared if you’re going on a weekend. The quiche was definitely the star of the tray. I’d say this is a perfect “mommy and me” type of spot. On a bit of the other side, I will say that the service was on the slow side and it took a while to get the tea served. Also, they ran out of a couple of different tea flavors which was a bummer considering the theme of the restaurant. All and all I’d highly recommend and wouldn’t consider these small things deal breakers.

I booked this business at the beginning of August for a double birthday celebration with my friend. Over the phone, I confirmed the date and time, paid a $100 deposit, and even worked directly with the owner to arrange a custom cake. I gave another $95 deposit plus a $20 tip for the cake. Everything was confirmed in advance.

A few days before the event, I received a call saying they had double booked our time slot and asked if we could either sit outside (in 95+ degree weather!) or reduce our guest count last minute, both of which were unacceptable since I had RSVPs confirmed. I was told they would figure it out, so I trusted them to handle it.

When we arrived, the table wasn’t even set up on time, and we waited 15-20 minutes in the hall despite having a timed reservation. Our server was inattentive and cold. She seemed unaware of the cake we had ordered and even asked to take my phone to the back to remind the owner what the cake was supposed to look like. Later, we were told that our custom cake had been mistakenly given to another customer. Instead, we were offered cupcakes which arrived an hour later, with no explanation of what type of cupcake it was, no candles, no effort to acknowledge it was a birthday celebration.

The service throughout was poor. For 15 guests, we were given only two teapots w/ one refill per (not nearly enough), and many people had to wait for tea that did not get it in the first round or water refills. When the food came out, there were no serving utensils. We asked for some and were handed just one pair of tongs for the entire table. The server acted as though we were a burden, while their “main” table (the one they double booked over us) received the attention we should have had.

The icing on the cake was that, towards the end, when it was obvious we were upset and disappointed, a staff member actually asked if they could take a photo of us (dressed in our nice outfits) to post on their social media story as if our experience had been something worth showcasing. When we received the bill, I was in shock they added a 20% gratuity fee to a service that was at best half of that, without any apology from the server for the constant lack of service.

This was an embarrassing and deeply disappointing experience as some people had driven from Austin for this celebration. We left feeling unwelcome and undervalued. Based on this experience, I cannot...

I am as real and friendly as they come. I do not often write a review simply because I do not think about it, but this one is personal and important.

The service was okay, cordial but impersonal. We were there for Mother's Day for a brunch and I had made reservations. Though I made reservations for four, we had to wait, and we ended up sitting at a table for two. Ten minutes passed by before they got us a highchair. They eventually offered a bigger table but it is difficukt to get kids resettled so we declined. My wife ordered the eggs benedict along with a slice of apple pie and I had the eggs commodore both of which were good but nothing to write home about.

While we waited we had our two little ones ages 3 and 1. They were having a hard time staying calm so we wanted to eat outside, but the restaurant would not allow us though it was empty outside and the wait was now going 45 minutes. While waiting I stepped in a pad of butter that was under our table from a previous guest and it got everywhere.

So we finally made the decision to get our food to go so I could take the kids outside for my wife and then once we received our food we are outside (with no to go silverware). It was this level of impersonal care (along with the mediocre food) that we will never on God's green earth return to the Bread Box. In this day in age, where most places are family friendly and on top of the fact that it was Mother's Day, I was amazed they could not understand why we needed to sit outside.

The food: good portion and good price point, but the English Muffin needed toasted longer. Because of it being undertoasted, the overall texture of the egg and bread was soft and gummy. Not the best experience in my...

Today was supposed to be my wifeys birthday celebration but it was ruined because of the horrible service we received. We scheduled a party 3 weeks in advance with the event coordinator where we requested a room to sit our party. Over the past 3 weeks, we stayed in communication with the coordinator, and were reassured several times that we would be in a room. We arrive today and we’re told by a fake gm that they could not fit our party in the room. To quote this “gm” correctly, “I spoke to the owner this morning and when we saw the reservation, we realized that you wouldn’t fit and be comfortable”. I explained to this “gm” that we were reassured several times that our party would fit due to the fact that 3 of our guests were toddlers and 1 of them was a baby. This “gm” offered no apology or solution to the problem. Due to this incompetence we decided to leave, which put a damper on the celebration. If you knew the morning of that we weren’t going to fit, then why wouldn’t you or the event coordinator reach out and say something? Instead you stayed quiet and allowed our party to show up and then tried to squeeze us in around a baby shower. To add on to their embarrassment, this establishment refused to take any accountability for the lack of professionalism and would rather blame the customer for their lack of “unprofessionalism”. I know for a fact that no one in our party used profanity towards any of the employees. I also know for a fact that there isn’t a gm at this establishment because 2 of the other employees informed us that they don’t even recognize anyone...
