Country. Eccentric. Dusty. Entertaining.
My husband and I had lunch here 1pm Friday during July after an invitation by Bret who sadly did not get to buy the mounted goose I advertised online. Sorry! I see now why it was desired! We drove 30 minutes from Creekside.
It was tricky to find the driveway entrance to this place and then hubby was perplexed where to park, but he eventually just tucked in a shady spot even though he was sure the truck would be towed. Ha, he's just not country enough to understand the synchrony in the chaos... The all gravel and dirt property was jam packed with vehicles! My husband was also perplexed where the dang restaurant could be haha. He decided to trust me...
I easily found the walkway next to the big tree with the traffic warning sign (interesting!). Nope, absolutely it is not wheelchair friendly. It was hardly even stroller friendly, according to a mom who was going along. I appreciated the vegetation in its wild state on the sides of the pathway. I liked the rusted bike decoration!
Stepping up on the deck, I stopped to enjoy watching the red slider turtles in their tiny little mucky garden pool and then discovered the group of tortoises on the other side and was entranced by them.
The first thing when you walk through the front door is a long counter that is part craft sale, part greeting station, part diner booth without chairs, and you'll likely hear a heck of a lot of noise from this very popular establishment!
Maybe expect to wait for 20 minutes if you're not accompanied by boisterous children who can be expected to run in big circles thru the big main room. The left side is for noisier folk (says extremely nice Carol). It's main feature is a lofty wall around a cute fireplace. The bathrooms are behind. The other big thing, all the big windows look at this, is a scene from Walking Dead, ick. The kids like it? The right is a cramped quiet nook but it's hot because it's also the way food is moved to the private dining facility...
When Carol gave up trying to explain about the chicken salad (I hate the gooey kind), she grabbed a spoonful to offer a taste. It's excellent! Really tasty! Chicken, chopped red onion, celery touch of mayo... So I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with extra chicken and Cinderella salad to accompany. Sweet potato fries were served along side. Just for fun, I also ordered pimento chees sandwich haha! It's awesome hot, and awesome heated the next day in a skillet with Monterey on typ fir a real cheesy treat! Hubby had the daily special which had enough food it should be spilt into two portions. He scarfed it all down with a big smile! We enjoyed the food!
It's cool with me to be served on paper plates here. It's a reminder I'm in a "treehouse" setting. I'm not excited about using plastic cutlery and I'm very unhappy to find styrofoam in use. I hope they switch to compostable or post-consumer plastic (like Jason's deli).
While dining, we studied the country decor. It's fun to look at! Those silk plants need a washing! If I ever go back I hope to see more reclaimed wood or more tree themes instead of outdated paint color and fuddy wall paper.
The bathrooms are adordable but need professional help. There's a water leak. It's mildew or mold or both.
There should be a zero tolerance for cigarette use on premises. What people choose for themselves should never be imposed on others. More emphasis needs to be placed, if the assertion is true, that this establishment may be available and safe for everyone, safe for children.
Again, sorry my goose won't fly over diners here, but thanks again for the wonderful kindness, good food, fun time!
Everyone, even the other diners were personable,...

We have patronized Tree House Cafe since the opening as we have lived in the neighborhood for 15 years.
In the past, we enjoyed a relaxed environment and enjoyed treating family and friends to the quaint atmosphere and good food. Sometimes birthday lunch for grandchildren, when they were little.
Unfortunately, today’s experience has ruined the possibility of returning visits and supporting this business, EVER!!😡
A party of five, we were told they could offee us a booth with a chair at the end. ( in the pathway of the servers). I asked if we could sit in the side section and pull a smaller table to accommodate. We were told we could.
As we began to move the table a rather large , sloppy, man came waving his arms nervously- loudly telling us “ You can’t do that”!!!I told him ( once he took a breath ) the hostess gave us permission and even cleaned the tables for us— he was loud and other people were looking. We were so very 😳 embarrassed. I surrendered , yet he kept ranting and I voiced to him, I felt very unwelcome.
We didn’t know what to do. Do we sit? Should we leave? We wanted to leave but not create a scene, so we tried to adjust and get through the meal.
I am hearing impaired and “ read lips. “ Throughout the meal, I noticed, he kept looking at our table and I saw the conversation as he relayed the incident several times, retelling the story to different employees.
My family was unaware what was occurring. I was so upset I could not begin to eat what I had ordered. (Would he spit in my food?)
A couple who were finished, at a nearby table saw what was happening and offered their table as they were leaving. What a sweet gesture. He apologized to them(?) He really caused an awkward situation for more than on a table.
Another couple who witnessed his behavior stopped me on the way out and told me they also would not be back either.
Someone from the “Nextdoor” forum informed me, it’s not the original owners. 🙃
I am also warning others on yelp etc… I don’t who he was ?? The dishwasher??? Surely the owner of a new business wouldn’t be such a horse’s $&@! 👐🐎
Rudeness is FREE all day long. No one needs to pay someone to be rude. As indiscreetly as I could control my voice , told him on my way out, I did not appreciate his treatment and HE is the reason I won’t be back. Just...
Read moreMy clearly overcooked sweet potato fries were the best part of this meal. We used to go here quite often for a quick breakfast. My kids love "the turtle place". We decided to stop in for dinner after seeing multiple posts from them saying how great their dinner is. This place is small. The menu is limited, but it was pretty consistent. Now this was a Friday night. Around 6:30. There was clearly a larger group outside in the tree house. Inside the restaurant was two other tables. No one outside. As we were seated directly in view of kitchen.....we had a clear understanding of what was going on. We ordered our food, knowing it might be a minute, I ordered cheese sticks to passify the hungry gremlins. After 20 min.....no cheese sticks. We watched the bewildered cook.....fumble around with ZERO sense of urgency. We asked our server about the cheesesticks....she said she would check on them. 29 minutes or cheese sticks came out. 48 minutes after ordering, our food came out. 1 grilled chicken sandwich. - not half a chicken breadt but 1/4.... tough as nails, on an unrelated toasted chiabatta bun (gross) , and burnt sweet potato fries. $12.99 by the way 1 "wagon wheel" (Patty burnt to a crisp about 2.5 inches in diameter) and more burnt fries 1 kids grilled cheese- $7.99 1 kids chicken tenders-$7.99 (Three nuggets and 7 French fries) And another order of cheese sticks he made by mistake. We ate our burnt fries. Paid our $50 bill and left. Yes, they were aware we were upset. We understood it was not our servers fault. The other server explained the only had two servers and two cooks, one who was completely incompetent.....and a big party. My irriration is WHERE was the manager? Where was the owner? If you know you have an incompetent cook, and short servers and you refuse to be there helping your staff....that is absolutely disgusting. As a former business owner I have had those nights and I was right there in the trenches with them. I will not be spending another dime here. I have a feeling I'm not the only one. Stop being greedy. Help your staff. Stop jacking up insane menu prices just because you can. I get it...food costs are up....but 3 nuggets and 7 fries...
