We were so excited to come try out this dining experience. Upon arrival we sat down and had to wait 20 mins to receive water and a waiter to come talk to us. Immediately we informed them of our milk and egg allergy daughter, to give them plenty of time to discuss to let us know what was available for her. We asked the waitress who came around 25 mins in to talk to the chef and let us know. She came back with an option. When we went to order they told us they were not accepting food orders for 15 mins due to a large party. Now, we have been here for 40 mins and only allowed to order beverages at a restaurant? This made us a little disappointed, but we had the time today so we stayed. When we were allowed to order food, we reminded the waitress again of the allergy and ensured there was no cross contamination and it was safe for our baby. The food took a very long time to come out, and when it did they informed us that her food was made with egg whites when we clearly said there was an egg and milk allergy multiple times. I understand this is a hard allergy trust me as the parents we find this hard too, but after multiple talks and checks I was very upset to wait over an hour later to find out it was cooked with eggs. My daughter is only 2 and was very hungry at this point. We then talked to the chef and said okay let’s just do the bacon and sausage and please do not cook it in butter as this contains dairy as well. When her food did come out another 20 mins after everyone had eaten it was good. However, as a restaurant, I expected more care and more diligence when a customer clearly expressed allergies before order anything. The service really needs to be looked at in this situation. On top of this, no apologies were offered which shows the lack of care for...
Read moreGreat food with the unique flavors that you will not find in any other restaurant. Wonderful service and great music on Friday nights. The food Is all local, prepared by Thelma, professionally trained in California and worked in Italy.
A limited menu but everything we tried was delicious. Sat outdoors on a wonderful evening, totally enjoyable. No liquor license so BYOB. Make sure you try the coffee it is like savoring a liquor.
A YEAR LATER - EVEN BETTER Came for a Friday dinner again almost a year after our first visit, it was better than the first time which was also wonderful. There were seven of us and we shared, everything was delicious. While there's meat in most dishes this restaurant is definitely plant based and the portions are not the usual 'Texas' size which you take half the meal home. It is still a BYOB place, service is friendly but casual, not fancy, drinks are served in mason jars, the outdoor seating under a gigantic tree, relaxing and romantic. Their is live music on Friday nights.
I had the beef chili, the best I have ever tasted. Each mouthful was a taste sensation tilling the mouth with flavor, the texture of the beans and beef was perfect for this meal. Spaghetti squash with sausage was a unique and tasty meal that you would never find anywhere else.
I highly recommend it.
Eight months later (June 16, 2019)- still a five Saw on FB that they were having a Special Event, It was very eclectic tasting menu, had many things I never had before, a true taste treat. took a picture of the menu, unfortunately not the food and you will see what I mean. This place is not for meat and potato eaters but those who want an...
Read moreNote: this is only a review of the coffee and NOT the food which I have not tried.
(When I try a new coffee place I always order a double espresso on the first visit - the espresso is the base of any good coffee drink - addition of hot milk if correctly steamed can mask problems with the underlying coffee.)
Firstly, the wheel kitchen charges 3.50 for a double espresso, which I believe is the about the most I've ever paid for a double. That price would usually be about right for a short milk based based drink e.g. Flat white.
I'd rate the quality of the double shot as "poor" overall - think slightly worse than Starbucks double espresso.
Firstly, the shot had no crema, as the photo shows.
Secondly the shot was very short, I'd estimate no more than 20g which is ok if the shot has been properly extracted, but this shot was obviously pulled too fast and so the coffee was under-extracted and quite bitter.
They appeared to be using a single group epoca - no idea what beans.
Ambience / service: good atmosphere with the owner paying attention to food customers and appeared to trying hard to deliver good service. Odd mix of furniture (IKEA, spinning wheel) in a converted home setting. For an "out of the way" place it was quite busy.
Other reviews for this place recommend highly so I have to believe the food is good, however the coffee is not recommended.
For coffee in this area, I'd recommend John and Jane Dough Bakery in Tomball (9 min from...
