This place has been around many years.....and for that it gets 2 stars.
In the fall, the outdoor beirgarten is open, and it's a fun place for families and friends to gather for a lovely environment and live music.
Unfortunately the night we went it was a little chilly..no out door seating and the only food option was a buffet.
The food was TERRIBLE and the service slow and rude. It was so disappointing as we took family from out of town hoping to share a great TX German food experience...and it was anything but.
It was packed. Seating was uncomfortable folding metal chairs. Long tables with multiple families sitting at one table. Tables so close together, you can't get in or out without having to squeeze between seated ppl saying excuse excuse excuse me. Not very fun when everyone is required to get up if they want food.
Environment was extremely loud, and we were there before the live music started. Not a place for casual conversation unless you can read lips or like yelling to talk to the person across the table. If you are looking for a place to sit, drink beer, and not eat or socialize, this would be a great place.
The buffet line was horribly executed. Only one very long line with a 15 min wait. Very inconvenient when you have a group and one or two ppl sit back to guard all the purses, etc, while everyone else goes to get food. The lag time made the whole meal awkward ... Some were finished and sitting waiting on the others to even get through the buffet line.
The salad section of the bar was unappetizing. Lettuce was wilted and looked slimy. I love salad and there was nothing on the salad bar that I felt was safe to eat or looked like I should try.
There was potato soup...yah! How disappointed to find out it was inedible....it tasted burnt...all throughout...like maybe the cook burnt the bottom of the pot, removed the burnt part from the soup, then just left the burnt flavor thinking no one would notice if they added extra salt. The flavor was nothing more than burn and salt. Ick and gross!
But....I was still holding out for some of that delicious spaetzle and weinerschnitzel that I e had here before..but after waiting in the buffet line for 15 minutes, I opened the spaetzle container and it was empty😥
Luckily, I thought, a kitchen wait staff came out to refill another tray of something and I asked about the spaetzle...she was rude, short, and yelled it's cooking! I asked should I wait there in line for it (I was not going to come back and get in line and do that wait again) or could a waitress just bring some to our table when some was done. Again she yelled and said "No waitress can bring it to you. I don't care what you do!" Okay then🤷🤷....I stood there and waited. It was an awkward feeling and I felt in the way, but no one at this restaurant cared at all about customer service.
Finally....got the noodles....they were slimy water wet...no butter...no saute....just boiled noodles not properly even drained.
Schnitzel was pounded so thin you couldn't taste or get any texture from the meat...it was just all crust.
Cod was dry, salmon was butchered, fried potatoes over cooked and dry.
No desserts on buffet. Must be bought separately.
It was such a sad bad and embarrassing experience food wise...especially when I had told our guests all about the great German food....but there were a a few good things worth noting:
*Large selection of beer including alcohol free beer here *Apple strudel is excellent and they WILL deliver it to your table!! *The red cabbage was delicious
Those 3 things won't get me to go back anytime soon, but I will enjoy the outside garden again on a...

My personal facts: served 41 years US Army; 100% permanent and total disability as assigned by the VA; registered with the VA is my service dog, “Pete”; not an emotional support animal but a service dog by every single point of training, definition, registration, proven effectiveness and solid performance of tasks, and THE LAW; federal law; ADA 2013 Law. We arrived yesterday at 5:30PM FRI 26 MAY 23; my family went in first; then did I; the hostess, visibly irritated in facial expression asks me, “what’s with the dog?” Please be mindful that Pete is a stoic 100 lb American Bulldog, standing quietly at my left side, on leash, and is full kit: his vest, harness, federal ID card atop his harness, and labeled in three separate vest locations, “SERVICE DOG”; I simply replied, “he’s my service dog.” She didn’t reply but quickly moved and motioned us to an area well away from the other seated public, well away from any sight of the music stage, and rudely hidden by and within 2 feet of a huge beer cooler. When I asked, this same hostess said that she needs to sit me away from people who might be uncomfortable with or allergic to Pete; I kindly advised that I must be allowed into any area offered to the public; she said that this is….to which I offered, “but not now…your public is over there, near the stage, I’d like that, please.” She offered that I may do so but without my service dog; given that my wife was this time alongside to help me, I choose to return Pete to the running, air conditioned truck so as to permit my family to be in the general public area near the stage. Upon conclusion, I asked for the manager; female manager came out but was ready with her talking points that I was offered a public area; but she would not see that by restricting me from seeing the music, being amid all others but rather isolated away from all others, to be hidden from view behind the wall-size beer cooler, is discrimination according to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 2013; to which she replied, “I don’t care”, and walked back to the restaurant kitchen; we left without nothing further. I’ve been deployed into combat seven (7) times; gave my all for 41 years; I deserved better only by being allowed to be where others are allowed. ...
Read moreIt was my husband and I wedding anniversary and we decided to drive a short distance to Warburg for German food. I called the day before to see about making reservations and the woman that answered said reservations were booked for 6-7pm as there was like 180 people that had booked. This person also mentioned the fire works and said they would start whenever it got dark and you could watch from the front porch of the restaurant. I then as her if we could get reservations for a 5-6 time slot and she ash how many were in the party and I told her 2. She said if there on two of you that’s no problem we can always seat you! My husband arrived at the restaurant around 6:10 and was approached by an older woman wearing a red dress with white polka dots. She could see that there was two people in the party and immediately asked if we had a reservation. I told her no I called the day before he was told we didn’t need a reservation since it was a party of 2. She snapped and snarled at me and said You always need a reservation! We started to leave and she said oh well I have an area you can sit, but you have to be out of there by 7:30 and I looked at my watch and it was 6:15. I asked my husband if he was OK with that and he said yes. We proceeded toward the table and the woman turned and looked at us and said you will be out by 7:30 and I said oh I’m sure we can be out by 7:30. She’s like no you WILL be out by 7:30! She created a hostile unwelcoming environment that we did not feel comfortable in! We set a table with some very pleasant people and my husband and another gentleman. We’re both discussing Germany and how they had both served in the military over there and how much they enjoyed it which made the dining tolerable! My husband and I both thought that the food was good and the waitress was cordial! As the old saying goes 1st impressions are lasting impressions! The old woman you have as a hostess really needs be kept away from your customers, that is if you want them to return! Attached is the time and date I called! I do NOT appreciate the old hostess insinuating that...
