Cool atmosphere but terrible service and food was burnt. The building is really neat, lots of cool history and fun. That is the only positive thing I can say about this place. We went there for my birthday and was completely let down. We had to wait forever for our food and when we got it , it was cold and burnt. The worst part about the experience is how rude the staff was. They completely ignored us after they sat us for almost 30 mins. After they took the order it was another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Then they vanished and never came back. We could not get syrup, butter a refill on hot coffee, nothing. When I tried to talk to them about the food they were rude and court. The waiting staff hated their jobs and it showed. They never even brought us a check so we could leave, I had to finally go to the host and have them track it down. I thought maybe they were having a bad day , or maybe I just got a bad server. So we gave them a second chance and went back a few months later. The service was even worse, I couldn't believe it. The food was burnt again after waiting forever. The experience was so bad we actually just left everything and demanded a refund. I really , really wanted to like this place because it is local, but I can't recommend it to anyone. When I read the other reviews about this place that are so glowing I question if they are even...
Read moreThe establishment has a rustic environment and decor, everything you would expect from a sugar shack. Cute gift shop with souvenirs and goodies including their maple syrup. Long list of names when we arrived on a late Sunday morning for breakfast. Despite that we were seated within the hour. The menu has a plethora of options to choose from so there is something for everyone to pick from.
Service was pleasant despite the high volume, we were greeted quickly and well taken care of. The food came out quickly. Yes on paper plates, but the nice thing about disposable goods, your never gonna have a dirty anything to worry about. The hash was crispy and delightful. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly cooked and with sautéed onions added on top, so good. Then there was the pancakes. The pancakes alone are worth the trip from anywhere, but paid that with their maple syrup. If you have ever had an experience with food that makes you stop mid bite and just admire the wonder of it then you know what I am saying. If you haven't then you're gonna find out. And finally to wrap up the whole wonderous experience, the bill came and I had to do a double check that the server didn't miss anything. A high quality breakfast that cost less than $15 per person. Incredible. If they were open tomorrow I would be back in the morning. Alas, I'll have to wait to experience...
Read moreWe visited Benton’s Sugar Shack yesterday on our way home from New Hampshire. I am super glad we found this place! First, let me say the service was incredible. Lynn was so nice, helpful, and efficient. The order came out super quick and exactly as ordered. The coffee was hot and delicious. Again, Lynn was excellent!! Now the food. We wanted to try everything. We decided to get the Farmer’s Omelette with raisin toast and home fries. Excellent, excellent and excellent! The omelette was perfectly cooked with just enough add-ins. The perfect balance of egg and add-ins. Banana bread French toast? Out of this world. Seriously. And their own maple syrup is delicious to top it all off!!! Also get the baked beans. They make them there, and they’re wonderful. The hash was next level. I read someone’s review saying it was canned hash. ABSOLUTELY NOT! It was amazing!!! The atmosphere is cool and quaint with an open window kitchen, sugar shack shop, and even maple syrup processing demonstration. I told my husband the food, customer service and atmosphere just clearly show these people care so much about what they do. He heartily agreed!!! If you’re anywhere near this place in Thornton, NH, make it a point to go. You will not...
