I recommend you bring your date and/or family somewhere else... 👎 *This is the first time I've EVER walked out on a restaurant, but I know it was a wise choice. I'm not a fan of writing scathing reviews, but I thought this one was well warranted. ..... #1 I made a dinner reservation for two expecting a high-end dinner. We were stuck into a tiny table that we were barely capable of getting in and out of (And we are skinny. Lol). #2 We sat unattended for twenty minutes with packaged Ritz crackers and cheap pub-cheese (First impressions matter, and this was a good warning sign of mismanagement. Warm bread and butter costs virtually nothing). #3 The hostess clearly had no experience outside of this business (Being friendly and professional costs nothing). #4 We really couldn't see any identity in this place. (It was a strange mix of a converted trailer park home and an old Cape Cod cottage) #5 Parking is near impossible (Expect door dings. With a parking lot like this, it's just inevitable). ..... All that being said, I'm a big fan of French food, which is why I was excited to give this restaurant a try. I've visited Montreal many times, and from looking around at the other tables, the food certainty looked sub-par. I can only guess people continue coming here because of a lack of options in the area. ..... I really hope this review reaches the ownership and changes are made. 🙏 ..... Get some fresh eyes and minds into the future of staff and business practices, and you will likely get a whole new group of loyal...
Read moreI have been eating at this restaurant for over 30 years- last night my husband and I wanted to enjoy a nice “romantic” dinner to celebrate our Anniversary. We both had enjoyed their food and atmosphere in the past so it was an easy decision to make. Well- it was an epic disappointment. NO music- so I YouTubed my own dinner music - for real- when I asked the waitress she said it was an internet thing! Extremely dull lighting too- I ordered a glass of wine which tasted like it was turning—-The scrod which I love eat was room temperature from the kitchen- They now charge $7.00 for 1 baked potato with sour cream- they also charged us for our small dinner salads- mind you the waitress made no mention of these up charges either- same menu from the past years- my husband’s meal which he loves to eat is the delicious “peppercorn steak flamme bay” this time it was smothered with peppercorn beyond normal amounts not sure what happened in the kitchen??? They are famous for their French potato side dish cooked in chicken bouillon cubes- normally my husband loves these well last night the sauce had chunks of bouillon cubes in with the sliced potatoes- like what happened in the kitchen last night??? We will never know and will not be back...
Read moreThis place is amazing! My wife and I have eaten here twice, with the most recent visit yesterday, and it was the best thus far, thanks to the amazing Erica! Despite it being only her third shift, she provided exceptional service that enhanced an amazing dining experience.
Moulin Rouge is a cozy yet spacious establishment with a lovely wooden interior with two separate dining spaces. From top to bottom, the menu is great, offering a wide variety of food and drinks. The pistachio Martini is the best I've ever had! The wine list is quite good as well, with several selections from Italy, Argentina, California, and France. The California Cabernet is the best to accompany any meat entree.
As far as the food is concerned, the menu has several French, Italian, and American entrees from which to choose. The French Onion soup is amazing! In fact, it's better than any I had in Paris. The Oysters Rockefeller are equally scrumptious, and the stuffed mushrooms are also quite delectable. As far as the main entrees are concerned, Beef Wellington and the steak and frittes are a religious experience. This place is a homerun, even if you're not particularly taken with...
