Charlie’s Oriental Flavor — Restaurant in Toa Baja

Sunday 1:30pm, upon entering, the place was exploding with customers, or so I thought, but the line to order remained 5 deep the entire time I was there. Also, the drive through, it was constantly full.

So...what is this place, you ask?

Oriental China is the classic mom and pop neighborhood Chinese restaurant brought up with sweat and tears.

They had about 5 people in the kitchen, 3 in the front taking orders, one person dedicated to delivering orders to the table and cleaning up the dining room. It is a beehive. Note: Wait for food was about 20 mins, but they allowed me to open my beer and take to the table with me while I waited. The dining room is small, but there was always an available table. Air conditioning was full blast, which was appreciated.

I ordered the Chin Chin Chino, a burger sized container, a smaller size of the classic chinese combinations -fried rice and your choice of protein and french fries, tostones or mofongo. This portion is perfect for my appetite, no leftovers, and ideal for my budget. If you order the regular combo, two people can eat well from one.

Now, the pork belly OMG is so good! Excellent. Order it!!!!

This place has gotten so much hype, but it isn't worth it. There are sooooooo many other places that are way better than this place.

I have never heard of orange chicken with the sauce on the side 🧐🤷🏽‍♀️...

The food had no flavor 😕 Rice had all the right ingredients but tasted like nothing not even putting soy sauce helped so that got tossed in trash. The tostones looked like they left them sitting in oil and it sucked it all up like a 🧽 sponge so when you take a bite.... it tastes just like old oil! Yuuuum 👎🏽

Horrible like this is the worst Chinese food we've ever had & we are from Florida trust me Chinese food there is also trash 🗑. Fix the tables they wobble like crazy.

I found out about this place on Instagram and the chin-chin in the food plates caught my attention, which caught my attention, I took advantage of my trip to Puerto Rico, and decided to visit them, to my surprise they closed at 9pm- where I had to travel 35 minutes. So they arrived very late, they still attended to me😅👌🏻👍🏼 my recommendation on this. Everything was exquisite and very good. The cashier and the lady behind me were very attentive to everything.

Recommendation: Don't arrive too late because if you ask for something they will tell you that they don't have it available, it's understandable, don't complain about that. What I did notice is that with 30 minutes left to close they didn't have any wings or special rings. 🙄 The egg roll was full of oil. something that sometimes happens, that doesn't mean we lose hope of returning and eating the comfort at its best.
