La Mina Mexicana — Restaurant in Toa Baja

Main reason for a 3-star. I went for the hype of many people talking about this place and decided to give it a go.

Once going on trought the 10 page menu, I decided to order appetizers and the main dish.

While ordering, a customer was saying that the order was wrong and she ordered what exactly was on the menu. Instead of the employees finding a fast solution for the customer, they find it easier to actually argue with the customer and even one of the cooks started arguing. All the other cooks stopped cooking to be updated of what was going on.... wow. Ok.

After having to wait for someone to take my order after the argument they were having... I finally find a seat to wait for my food. Appetizers came after 20 or so minutes and food almost after 40 minutes.

Coming from a former cook, not a good serve time for an almost empty restaurant, but ok.

Wings were amazing, nice crunchyness and excellent spicy green sauce on the side, made it even greater. Queso fundido, very good queso, chips on point and fresh, worth the waiting time I guess.

Main dish, Flautas... good taste, poor presentation, made the flautas become soup between the 5 toppings it has. Taco Birria, burnt, you could not taste the meat or anything else because all you could taste was that burnt flavor.... nice BBQ.

Drinks were great, nice flavor and presentation. Very attentive bartenders.

For the main reason I'm giving the 3 stars, somethings good, somethings bad. Besides of the horrible parking, I would give it a second try to see if the behavior and food is better... but maybe I'll just stick to...

Entiendo q el lugar al principio era bueno pero se ha dañado tanto tanto. Asumo q quien sea el propetario le ha perdido el amor a su negocio por no estar al pendiente de todo lo q ocurre diariamente y lo insatisfechos q salen muchos, solo cuesta sentarse en un lugar donde puedas observar tanto el área de ordenar como la barra. Yo frecuento mi hermoso Levittown muy a menudo ya q literalmente vivo 6 meses en PR y los otros 6 meses en USA y cada vez q vengo el servicio es peor y pero teniendo tanta competencia a sus alrededores. Comienzo diciendo q acabo de estar frente a la barra mas de 20 min con ambos empleados frente a mi si reconocer q estoy frente a ellos, lo menos q un empleado puede hacer es saludar con una mirada por q lo responsable de hacer es decir ya mismo estaré atendiéndole. A todas estas no estaban ocupados, ambos relajaban entre ellos mientras éramos 3 esperando por ellos para ser atendidos. Cabe decir q por la razón q decido ordenar una cerveza es por q tengo problemas para accesar el menú digital y pues estuve parado frente al área de ordenar donde habían 8 empleados. Uno bailaba su música mientras le contaba a otro compañero de una corrida en motora. Otra muchacha, asumo yo q era supervisora por q estaba coordinando los breaks mientras la mayor parte del grupo de empleados vacilaban entre ellos, si frente a la tarima, le llamó tarima por q mientras uno tiene uniforme o trabaja en un lugar uno debe comportarse ya q es el área donde los clientes primero llegan y evalúan. Pregunte por ayuda y me dijeron q no podían hacer nada por q no tienen el menú en papel, literalmente me dijeron “ No se que decirte por q ese problema es allá tu teléfono “. Luego de ambas experiencias vuelvo y me acerco al área de ordenar y una vez más la cocina es un concierto virtual donde el enfoque es la música, y el vacilon contando nuestras experiencias personales q entiendo yo q a ningún cliente le debe importar. Me acerco esta vez para buscar la manera de como ordenar a través de alguna ayuda celestial, ver si alguno de los 8 le queda algo aunque sea algo de sensibilidad y al menos gastar su última gota de destreza en servicio al cliente y sus primeras palabras fueron “Caballero si va a ordenar entienda le dejo saber q la orden tardará de 45min a una hora, ósea el lugar vende tacos, burritos, nachos y eso toma mas tiempo q ir a un restaurante donde venden comida criolla? Wow Que tan organizados están como para no tener las proteínas ya cocinadas, la lechuga cortada, el tomate cortado, la crema, cebolla cortada etc? Esta fue mi última vez q se le da a este lugar y es una pena pero realmente la culpa la tiene los dueños por q si usted no puede administrar su negocio al menos pague por tener a alguien q lo pueda hacer por usted. Uno trata de patrocinar los negocios de su pueblo natal pero en realidad no se puede hacer con todos. Ya me lo habían advertido pero uno siempre tiene...
