Mayfly Tavern - Toledo, OH — Restaurant in Toledo

I visited a couple of weeks ago after seeing several posts and a review from a local news reporter. The place itself was very nice. It appeared recently remodeled and was very clean. You have to go up to the bar to place your order, which isn't horrible when there's not many people, but once it gets busy it's hard to find the bartender for a refill.

I ordered a burger and fries. The burger was edible but tasted like it was a frozen burger with no seasoning. Then, as you can see in the picture, I got about 10 fries. I literally ate only 2 before taking this picture. I thought about saying something but this is how the cook sent it out and the bartender brought it to me, so it must be a normal thing for them. Not my kind of place but my friend loves it. With the bar and the tables it's crowded. Had an issue with getting a water when I was the DD. I was told they now sell bottles of water because to many people waste the free water and the girls have to collect all the cups of water at night and throw them out. If I was a bartender there I would be more worried about making sure people are getting home safe then being concerned with picking up cups at closing time. It's a bartenders job to be sure someone isn't over served or that they are okay (safe) to drive. Would hate to see one of them on the news being held liable over tap water. I ordered a lot of food because Dine in the 419 said the food was so good. It was Friday & I was really excited to try the fish & shrimp, among other items. I was extremely disappointed! The service was ok, but there were only 2 people that took orders & it was packed. The coating on the fish, shrimp & onion rings fell right off after I asked for it to be fried hard. The Cole slaw was not good & had big strips of lettuce. The hot pepper balls were good, but otherwise, my food was terrible. I also didn't like the fries either. I did not order the burger.
