We usually eat Ponchos but the hubs was in a hurry and it was just slightly closer for his lunch break so we took a chance for our first time eating here…. It’ll also be our last. I was excited to try something that was similar but different and maybe just as good. Their refried beans tasted like they were just popped out of a can onto my soggy tostada shell, then lettuce with hard core bits, a few tomatoes, and some guacamole that looked like cheap liquid-y green stuff from Dillon’s. Taste was not good. The queso looked like melted plastic or fake cheese and tasted like Dillon’s store brand queso blanco right out of the package, not good. My son’s breakfast burrito had tons of egg, hardly any bacon, and a sprinkle of what looks like frozen fries were just tossed into the mix, they were rubbery and weird. Not a good ratio of eggs to other ingredients at all, but my son said it tasted ok after removing half of the eggs. This is probably the longest review I’ve ever given and it’s because we aren’t a rich family and only eat out now and then so when we spend a pretty penny on food that should taste like actual Mexican food and not store brand crap they’ve done nothing to, it’s not ok. At this rate anyone can go buy all this stuff from Dillons and open up a shop faking Mexican cuisine. This is not Mexican food y’all. Yuck. And all of these good reviews must have never had real Mexican food, or y’all’s taste buds are used to store brand items. I do know if they’d actually tried to create their own recipes and season things, they be doing a ton...
Read moreMy husband had this place recommended to him by a coworker. He was told that it didn't look like it should be good because it was a newer place stuck in a really new-looking building. How could that possibly be any good? But his friend said it was worth it, so we went for breakfast burritos. I had steak and egg, my husband ordered the chorizo, and my son ordered the ham. Unfortunately, they did receive the wrong orders (the were marked incorrectly) and neither of them realized until they were almost done eating. They loved what they got, even when they got the wrong thing. The burritos are super-sized! Seriously, they could be split to serve 2 people easily. As large (or bigger) than Chipotle, but with waaaaaay more good stuff. The meat was all throughout the burrito. There was no filler like Chipotle does with their rice. This was chockablock full of eggs, potatoes, carne asada, and cheese. They also have a salsa bar that has 8-10 different kinds of salsa, in varying flavors and heat levels. I mixed the salsa aguacano with salsa rojo and it was fantastic. Highly recommend. It was so good and so filling! What I had left of my burrito could have filled a small burrito bowl at that other place. We will definitely be back, especially since we didn't have room to try the...
Read moreThe 37th & Burlingame location was AMAZING!!! The Staff, The atmosphere, The ambiance All superb! Placed an order online & it was ready before the time stated! I did check the contents & found an item wasn't made correctly. The young man running the register & pick-up orders had the item corrected without haste. I did ask about the salsa bar & how it worked & the associate (a Dallas Cowboys Fan); he politely offered suggestions!! Having worked in restaurants, I was glad that I remembered to ask about the drinks on the order. I was pleasently surprised that he wanted them to Not get Watered down, so the were made just before leaving. I was concerned about who received the tip placed on the card that was ordered. They stated the Delivery Drivers actually received it; however, since I actually picked up the order... I did note that the Company Stated "the staff" so I will have to inquire whether or not the IN STORE??
I HOPE they soon have drink carriers & something to carry large orders in & maybe even automatically put the lettuce & condiments on the side to be added so that cold items remain chilled if the tacos, burritos, etc need to be...
