GDI Countryside Inn — Restaurant in Town of Alden

3 of us visited on a Friday night. We had reservations for 7pm. We arrived at 6:40pm and checked in. The bar area was packed, and most of the tables were full. We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited. At 7:15pm we checked in again and said it would be about 15 minutes. We ordered another round of drinks and played some pool and puck bowling. At 8pm, we checked again, and were told a few minutes. We ordered another round of drinks and chatted it up with another couple, who also has 7pm reservations and had not been seated yet. At 8:48pm we were finally seated in the dining room. We were never apologized to for the wait or offered anything to compensate us. It appeared as if there were only 2 waitresses for the entire place, which included 2 different dining rooms. At this point, we were starving. I'm not sure if the food we ordered tasted so great because we were so hungry, or because of the quality. We had also called ahead to see if we could use the gift certificates were had, and were told yes over the phone, when we made the reservation. In the menu it stated that you couldn't use gift certificates for certain food items. I gave it 2 stars because the food was good and there were things to do...

I agree with kevin! I don't think they care....first we waited to be seated (only three tables with customers)... a couple came in after us..then they seated us all... we got r drinks ,place are orders... now the wait was on! Ten minutes want by (waiting for salads) I look over at the couple that came after us, and there eating a salad.. so we still sitting waiting...finally 10 mins. Later ,I ask the waitress if we were going to get are salads! Her reply was ,"it's will be out in min. (REALLY! ) S o are salad comes out along with the other couples dinner...Now, we're waiting for r dinner...wait wait wait (21 mins later) Oh, by the way. The other couple left...We're the only ones in the place! Surf and turf we order....Ok I'm done,not going any further! ! They need to find a good cook and waitresses that care! Steak not are way and lobster well done...not...

Food was amazing (well what we got to have) BUT horrible experience. Got there around 5:20 got sat immediately. We have never been there before and wanted to give it a try. Ordered 2 cups of soup and asked server to come back to get our order. We got our soup and finished them before she came back (about 20 mins) then we ordered poppers and a mini fish to share. Poppers came. 6:30 now and we still don’t have the mini fish. At this point we were tired of waiting and I asked for a box because I had to leave. She got the check and the fish was still on it. I asked the bus boy to get our server and told her that we didn’t want the mini fish. She grabbed the check right out of my hand rudely to take the fish off. Spent almost 2 hours by the time this was done and only had soup and poppers. FYI we also didn’t have a set server they kept...
