Hillside Tavern — Restaurant in Town of Alexander

Stopped in for lunch on Wednesday 5/25/22 with a friend. The bartender who was also the cook, was very friendly. We ordered the taco rolls for an appetizer. They were amazing! The roll was light and flaky, and the stuffing was hot and full of flavor. We told the bartender that we’d never had rolls that were flaky like that, and they were nice and fresh. He told us that they were made from scratch, along with their pizza rolls. I had the Junkyard Mac & Cheese which was also full of flavor, and the portion was large. My friend had the grilled chicken salad, which was also very fresh, along with the chicken being tasty and juicy. Also served in a very ample portion. There were a couple of regulars, who were also very friendly, and even bought us a drink. Nice atmosphere and vibe, great outdoor deck....

We came here unintentionally with a group of 12 after getting Christmas trees and we were pleasantly surprised! The staff was AMAZINGLY accommodating for vegetarian/celiac disease needs. They even went to buy gluten free chips when we found out they didn't have them. They answered our gazillion questions without hesitation and were willing to make accommodations to avoid contamination. My daughter with celiac said it was the best meal she ever...

The owners at The Hillside Tavern are absolutely amazing! I’ve known this hard working couple for years. They will not tolerate anything shady whatsoever, and have done a fantastic job as first time restaurant owners. The kitchen is absolutely SPOTLESS, and they have great food!
