Swartzendruber Supper Club — Restaurant in Town of Antigo

On August 18th 2021 at 6:00 p.m. 3 of us arrived at Schwarzenegger's restaurant from my wife's birthday dinner. We were seated immediately and ordered drinks and waitress said about 15 minutes before we could place an order due to 29 people in the banquet room. There was adequate waiter's staff and kitchen help on duty based on what we saw. When we finally placed our food order waitress said they were out of barbecued ribs and 2 different stakes. We did get rolls and butter right away but food order took one hour and 35 minutes after placing the order to be delivered. Waitress was very apologetic and kept us updated but the owner Linden never came to all the tables that were waiting over and over and over and over and hour and a 1/2 to get their food delivered. Is the food quality quantity and temperature was excellent the biggest disappointment was when the owner Lyndon came out of the kitchen he went behind the bar and talked to a couple for over 30 minutes instead of visiting the tables or instructing the waitress to perhaps give a free drink or a free dessert for the inconvenience of waiting an hour and 35 minutes very disappointed with Schwartz and Gruber's restaurant and management...

I try to avoid leaving negative reviews. However, in this particular instance it is unavoidable. I was looking forward to a meal at one of Wisconsin's celebrated dinner clubs. However; the dining experience we had at Swartzendruber was prerhaps the single worst dining experience I have ever had. I was meeting friends in Whitelake, Wi. They arrived at the Restaurant at 6:45. As I was driving from Illinois and was way behind schedule I had expected that they would have completed their meal long before my arrival. To my surprise when I arrived at the restaurant at 8 P.M. the group was still waiting for their order. Whilst waiting for their order I was informed that many members of our party were experiencing trouble ordering drinks. When the waitress returned for my order I attempted to order the prime rib just to be told they were out. They were also of Merlot. Quite disappointing for a dinner club. I ordered the New York strip. When that arrived it was the poorest excuse for a steak that I have ever seen. Many of the orders for our group were wrong or not cooked properly. One of our group got a plain hamburger on a burnt bun no trimmings included. My recommendation for this establishment is...

Look past the rude older hostess and the rest is great!

I would have given 5 stars but I can't look past the hostess. We walked in and my mother-in-law asked if they had a table. The hostess asked how many and we told her 7. She asked if we had a reservation and we didn't (it was a last minute we were in town so just stop after a hockey game). The hostess said "it's a Friday night and you don't have reservations and you want a table." She stormed off into the back and we were about to leave when she grabbed menus and took us back. Plenty of room where we were seated. She flung the menus on the table. My kids who are 11 & 13 asked if we could leave because how she made us feel. She wasn't young, she was in her late 50's/60's. I hope she doesn't own the place because with her attitude she should not have a place like that.

The reason I gave a 4 star is because the waitress was great and the food was very good. They take extra care with my gluten allergy. I couldn't let one person ruin it for others...
