Good food, but higher priced than expected. Had the Reuben sandwich, which was really, really good, with the sweet potato fries upgrade instead of regular. $3.99 seemed like a lot for the soggy pile I got, but they were still good, despite not being cooked right. Husband had fish fry, which he said was very good, and a modest, but fair portion. The cole slaw, which was otherwise good, was warm and floppy, instead of cold and crunchy. The girl who brought out our food was very nice, but the girl at the front in the braids looked a bit surly. The building is well kept and painted beautifully. They have two outside Rubbermaid-style picnic tables with umbrellas between the windows and parking lot. We sat there to eat because I couldn’t bring my ES animal inside. It was early evening, so cool enough to do so. I wiped the table off with hand gel and napkins because the gnats were abundant and stuck to the table. To be expected in the summer. I loved the awning out front, and the wording on it too. At Christmas time, I really loved the outdoor display! This was our first visit. My family has been a part of Elmira for generations, and though I have never lived in Elmira myself I've visited regularly over the last 30 years. One friendly rivalry I will now have with my family and lifelong friends is that they've kept this local gem away from me.

Local Elmirans and residents of Horseheads, if you've never been to Maple Lawn please be aware that you have a gift in your backyard, the type of place that idyllic movie scenes are based around. And for people travelling through and visiting or passing by and enjoying a more quiet view of the beautiful areas surrounding the Finger Lakes, make sure to come to Maple Lawn.

I came in from Florida, wanted to have a nice dinner. We were a table of 6 but 3 separate bills. We were forced to pay their gratuity but received no table service at all. The waitress, Beth, who somehow was also the manager, took our order & after a 30 minute wait, brought our food. Forgetting a plate, and then we never seen her again. I had to go to the counter myself to ask for items needed. When she brought the bills we didn't know what the OPEN SRV fee was. Upon asking she said it was the gratuity for a party of 5 or more. I said it was 3 separate bills. She said "Well that's how I put it to the kitchen so that's how you were charged" I told her she did not deserve an almost $20 tip for 0 service. She acted as if our complaints were pointless and beneath her and charged us all anyway. I will never return and will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Very very...
