OK, out of the gate I will say I am a train fanatic, especially steam engines. If you have a train theme, you have my attention. Although we have been to Door County several times, I had never heard of PC Junction. My wife found out about it from a friend and decided to surprise me with lunch here on our vacation this year. We parked in back when we arrived and entered from the back. Outside is a train crossing signal. When you enter, there is a large, hand-written arrivals and departures board with the names of different DC villages on it. When we entered the dining area, I was actually a little overwhelmed. There is SO much to see!!! Train signs, old time phones shaped like trains, and the centerpiece of the place, the garden railroad track and steam train that deliver your food!! One thing to know ahead of time-the dining area with the train delivery (there is more seating up some stairs, but no train delivery) is tight. Not recommended if you are claustrophobic. However, our party was all good with that. Once seated, we were greeted by our waitress/conductor (more on that in a minute), Kiana. I have worked in the service industry for 35+ years and am not at all hesitant to say the Kiana was 1st rate. So, we were getting ready to order and all if a sudden a bell rang and we heard someone call out "Next stop, Bailey's Harbor, Bailey's Harbor, next stop!!" Then there was a steam train whistle and the beautiful 2-6-6-2 steam engine pulling a group of about 7-8 flat-bed cars rolled by with another party's drinks. Also on the train were a bunch of rubber ducks!! (Throughout our time at the restaurant, the cars were occupied by Batman, Peppa Pig, Tigger and a big blue whale that made bubbles.) We got in our order, watched the train run by a few times, then out food came. I will be honest and say the food exceeded my expectations. The portions were generous and the food delicious. All in all, our experience at PC Junction was thoroughly delightful. We will...
Read moreExcellent food, horrible waitress ruined the experience! Dine at your own risk here, (if you get the wrong waitress)!
Edit 10/16/21: Regarding where we were sitting.., we were seated at 1:35pm (on 10/9/21), at the outside patio area across from the upper level bathrooms, and just to the left of the outside bar area. The table we were sitting at was a converted door that had old cigarette lighters embedded into the varnish.
I estimate that after we were seated, we waited for over 5 minutes with no eye contact from a certain waitress who continued to walk past us.
It got to the point of where we had to flag the waitress down for service, and once that happened, the remaining service for that visit was where it became horrible.
We started by ordering 2 beers, and those were literally delivered to our table by being slammed down in front of us! The remainder of the visit was just really uncomfortable, (like maybe we should just pay for the beers and leave).
Ultimately, however, the food that was ordered, was excellent. The waitress didnât have anything to do with that quality, obviously, but weâve been to PC Junction a few times previously, and itâs always been a great time. Maybe this waitress was just having a bad day, and we needed to be a part of that experience.
But regardless, we rate this the worst customer service experience that weâve ever had, anywhere (and weâve been around). Not sure if this helps pinpoint anything, but weâre pretty certain this same waitress also works at the...
Read moreCame in with a group of 2 parents of a 1 year old and 1 parent with a 3 and 5 year old to have train seats, they split us up having the parent with 3 and 5 year old sit at the train and us to sit at a high table behind them even though there were 4 seats still available next to them..ok I say whatever that's fine, but the table they want us with a 1year old to sit at is a 2 person high table where the highchair blocks the whole walkway and her head would be below the table once she was sitting. So we asked why we can't just sit next to our group in the open spots since obviously our baby can't sit at this high table and block the way. They said they save spots for the next people that come in with kids, which no one was waiting and we DO have a kid AND are paying customers. They said well your baby can sit by the train...wait what ?! so whose feeding her as her parents sit at a table across the walkway. ...as there's still 4 seats open by train. I say ok if you want us at this high table where can our baby go so shes with us??? Never did get an answer from the waiter nor the lady behind the train. We all left. Horrible customer service. No logic....
