I wish I could give them more stars but... Food. Good, not great, good. The Caesar salad was the blandest I had ever had. And I wasn't the only one at the table to say so. We asked for olive oil to dunk our bread in. Yuck. It may have been good olive oil but seasoning was NOT good. Would have been much better plain. The main course was OK. Cannot say great. And the serving was on the small side. And when we asked for more bread to soak up the gravy... They were OUT. No more bread. Come on, that's a staple at an Italian restaurant.
Prices. The meals seemed reasonably priced. I don't know what my beers cost but my wife said her wines were $12 per glass. Maybe I'm cheap but that seems overpriced.
Atmosphere. The room was dark. I prefer that to too light, so that's not a complaint, more just an observation. The tables were sectioned off with barriers, which I really liked, I felt like we had our own room. That being said, it was LOUD, despite the barriers.
And the last issue was the bill. According the the waitress, the credit card company added a 4% fee on the bill. And in her defense, that was also noted on the folder she delivered the bill in. But come on, that should have been on the price of every meal. When I buy gas I see a CASH and a CREDIT price. If they are going to pass on the credit card fees to the customer, you need to be upfront about it. Don't wait until the bill is delivered and the credit card run.
So overall, 3 stars. This restaurant may be for others but I don't think we'll be back. Between the average food, overpriced wine, loud atmosphere, and additional credit fee, we know of a lot of better...
Read more2 slices were almost $9. Is this the going rate now? (To be fair, that includes a credit card surcharge of either 3 or 4% so it was $8+ for cash).
The slices were a bit larger than most, but not like Bennie Tudino's in Hoboken. One slice was plain, and one was chicken marsala. I get that a specialty slice would cost more, but really?? $8+ for 2 slices?
The crust was thin (my preference) so I liked that but it was still a bit bland. Very hard to find a decent slice with good crust these days. There was a generous amount of chicken and mushrooms on the marsala slice.
I gave it 2 stars because 3 to me would be average/satisfied overall. Better than average would be 4 stars and, well, 5 stars would be superb. I'll keep looking for a better slice.
There is a restaurant as well as a take-out counter. I sat at a bar table in the front by the take-out counter and the soda refrigerators. There were two other tables, a 4-top and a 2-top. Not sure about seating or decor in the restaurant. On a Saturday night, and except for a few other take-out customers, this place was empty at ~7:30. I heard one of the employees saying "good night" so it must have been a really slow night. It didn't seem like a really happy staff, generally, but I'm judging from only one short interaction.
As an aside, the credit card surcharge has become more and more prevalent since Covid, especially at restaurants. A great example of what would happen with tariffs on...
Read moreI live close to this place and have eaten in the restaurant quite few times throughout the years and it wasn't bad at all. Fast forward to 2025; I heard they were under new ownership so me and my lady decided to order a couple dishes and a two pies for the family and I hate to say it but it was horrible, it felt like the food wasn't made with any passion or care, it was just bland and overall very disappointing. As for the pizza, just save your money, its not worth it at all, looks like the same guy making it but i dont know what happened, i didnt enjoy it at all. The service was not what it once was either, the young lady that was up front had no customer skills whatsoever, I didn't feel welcomed at all. I really wanted to enjoy the food and experience cause I love to support our local businesses but unfortunately that won't be happening. Save your...
