Went to the casino where I won some cash, quit when I had twice as much as I started with and headed to the restaurant; that's when my luck ran out, or so I thought... there was a longish wait time for it so someone suggested 37 West. My luck hadn't run out at all, 37 West was great. Our server with the flowing white hair (we'll call her Darlene, to help you get the picture) was fantastic. I had a few Long Island Iced Teas and the chicken sandwich, 10/10 would have it all again. Everyone loved their meal and drinks and my Father in Law loved the prices (we all did but he was paying). All in all a really enjoyable evening and everyone was looking forward to coming back. A few weeks later, while arguing about where to take our friends for dinner, I suggested 37 West, immediately calm spread and whispers of assent quickly became a whole hullabaloo of excited old people. I figuratively both patted myself on the back and breathed on my right hand fingernails and polished them on my 2nd favorite T-shirt (which I was wearing). No Darlene this time, quite possibly a Beth or Laura. I had the regular Margarita with salt and lime to drink and ordered the Alfredo fettuccine with chicken for my entree. The margarita being both invigorating and empty I ordered another. Lamentably they had run out of margarita mix so I willingly returned to the long island iced tea (I've been on a bit of a tequila journey of discovery recently, Hornitos Reposado is freakin' beautiful btw). My fettuccine was awesome, I remember it fondly to this day. The Mother in Law ordered the shrimp pasta because it was so good the last time and was the reason she wanted to come back. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as before and she felt bad because her best friend also ordered the shrimp pasta on her recommendation. Was it a different chef? My better half ordered the chicken marsala. As our forearms brushed lightly while eating I felt a distant disappointment. The look in her eye confirmed it. She didn't like it and left most of it, too mushroomy I think. Come to think of it I don't think I've ever been in the company of anyone who deliberately ordered chicken marsala until now. The rest didn't complain so I figured they liked their meals. Sometimes though, when reminiscing and I'm feeling that certain kinda sentimental retrospection that whiskey sometimes brings I think they would have liked it more if Darlene...
Read moreFirst time visit and horrible experience. Waiters were okay - not great but not terrible. I did have to go to the table next to us and get silverware and napkins because we did not have any and they never noticed or brought us any. It was freezing in there, on one of the coldest days of the winter season. Food was horrible, I ordered the fried perch with mashed potatoes - fried perch was the worst I have ever had, breading was horrible and the perch itself was really dry and not fresh. Potatoes were barely warm in the middle and cold on the outside and looked like they had been microwaved. My husband ordered prime rib with loaded baked potato. He said prime rib was okay but he only ate half and his baked potato was definitely not fresh (he only ate a few bites of that) and had been microwaved or reheated. For a place that opens at supper time you would expect the potatoes to be fresh. I sent my meal back immediately and they did take it off the bill but we still paid more than $30 for his steak dinner. In my opinion the whole bill should have been comped. We will definitely not be recommending...
Read moreImpressive first time visit! Am a deaf senior and brough a severely deaf-blind senior spouse. Everything was great except minor issue of not removing finished tableware more efficiently when server walked by with empty hands. This is restaurant's food, quality and portions are first class. And were delicious. For some unknown reason, an unknown patron at another table, when leaving, awed us through our server with our dinner paid in full! How do we find and reciprocate that person for such a first time ever happening kindness? And we were provided friendly doorway escort in both arriving and leaving. I come from a restaurant business family and...
