Great food crafted from fresh local ingredients. The salty bread is amazing! It has cute locally made products, and edible trays as well as baked goods and Rochester's Fizz Soda is sold here, too. I often use the website to pre-order while at work, but the menu is even greater inside. This is an anomaly, but 9n3 Saturday our order was quite a bit different than expected from the online order system. But they were quick to correct my co-workers Superior Sammie and all was well.
On our dine-in experience day, I can say we found a clean and thoughtfully decorated restroom. We passed over them, but they have cute jars of small candies for 10¢ or 25¢ a piece, as well as very tempting cookies, baguette pizzas, and locally crafted stickers, toys, and more. It's just a great blend of tiny boutique and cafe.
My son ordered the pizza bagel. Fresh, ooey-gooey cheese, a bright tomato sauce, some pepperoni and it was very filling for him (at 10 yrs. old that is saying something 😆).
I had a BLT on this occasion. It was nice, thick bacon, tasty sourdough bread and after a hike at the nearby trail it was a satisfyingly filling without being heavy. I have yet to try any of their amazingly creative coffee drinks, but the mango smoothie my son ordered was perfect. Not too sweetened, but brilliant with fresh mango and neither too thick or too thin. Also, we were delighted that it comes dairy -free naturally, but they do have nutmilk options for their not wishing for milk products with their drinks.
I highly recommend this lovely gem of a cafe. Check out their vintage camper-turned-coffeehouse on wheels. It's adorable and wonderfully retro.
I have heard of the owners heart for local non-profits, too. They do what they can to help out with ROC area projects in certain seasons or year round, I'm not yet sure. They are just such wonderful people who have Created a safe haven... for the Penfield road neighborhoods to walk to and be apart of community, *for kids who can have a snack and also play with friends or siblings in a mid size side yard, For community and conversation which flow in the evening around glowing, cozy fire pits For area resident to order ahead and have fresh, locally sourced where possible, delicious, food that isn't outrageously priced. *For creativity to flourish - the menu boards, entree and drink names, and displays are so artful and beautiful.
I highly recommend Tree Town Cafe for all ages, and most or all palettes. I can't think of a person in my life who wouldn't be happy with at least one or menu options.
They are closed Sunday so their staff is free to be with family and to rest. I love supporting businesses that consider the well-being of their staff and their own family. It's too easy for restaurant owners to work 7 days a week around the clock at never see their family. I love this evidence-of-care, awareness & compassion that seems to stem...
Read moreMy fiancé and I went to Tree Town Café based on their Instagram profile and the fact that it is a local business. The interior is very nice. Various sweets and savories are presented in a very homey country-store fashion. We grabbed some locally roasted coffee beans (Sugar & Spice) and got in line
However, as a café, the service was terrible. When we entered, there were about 9 people in line, three couples and a trio of young women. Behind the counter, there were "1 &1/2 people." One person was actually waiting on customers, while the “half” person was chatting with the trio of young ladies, oblivious to or ignoring the customers. He did, after a while, flag the 4 customers behind his three friends, to go around in line, but, as his fellow employee was trying to take orders, ring up customers and prepare food, he either did not pay attention or did not care. We stood in line for a good 20 minutes. I saw what appeared to be an owner or manager in the back, but he too was oblivious to the stagnant line.
When we finally did get up to the front, although we were going to get coffee drinks (we waited this long, why not!?) but the young man at the register, instead of welcoming us or asking what would we like gruffly scanned the coffee beans and told us the total. We gave him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't mean to be rude, but was overcome with minimum wage bitterness at his non-working co-worker.
I don't think local businesses, especially in the current environment, can afford to have such bad service. With the “Sugar & Spice”, not...
Read moreI really try to support this little local place but today was the last day I will order food from Tree Town Cafe, and it's a stretch to say if I will even stop in to purchase a beverage. In the past our order has taken quite awhile to be ready but today it took 35 minutes for two kid sandwiches and a chicken salad sandwich to be ready. And when we did receive the order, the entire thing was wrong or gross. The kids ordered fluffernutters and there was only peanut butter on the sandwiches and no fluff. The chicken salad was disgusting; it was simply chicken, a small amount of mayonnaise and way too much salt (no celery or grapes to be seen). The sandwich was also supposed to come with sprouts which were missing. After the long wait I didn't even bother trying to take the food back, especially after seeing two other customers waiting for Grub Hub orders that never came out. Based on other reviews slow service and wrong orders is common at this establishment. My suggestions to the owner is to stop doing GrubHub and instead focus on the customers actually at the cafe, tailor down the menu and focus on excelling at a more limited amount of items, and/or replace the kitchen staff who are either overwhelmed, incompetent, or simply don't care. My kids always want to go to Tree Town Cafe after we hike at Corbett's Glen or Ellison Park but after today we likely won't go back unless it's for a beverage (which it appears people in other reviews have had issues...
