Smitty's Overtime Inn — Restaurant in Town of Byron

The Pub is clean and bright and makes a good appearance when you walk into the place, I ordered the broiled scallops and was warned that they were small, but when my plate arrived, the size of the scollops brought new meaning to the word "small". It took 4 scollops on my fork just to make a small mouthful. They were rubery and in no way represented what scollops should taste like. My meal included a very skimpy amount of tatertots and the salad bar. The price of the meal was $22.99. I mentioned my dissatisfaction to the server and was told that I could "go down south and pay twoce as much". I also commented that for what I paid for the meal I shouldn't be leaving the place still hungry and was told that I should just eat more salad and soup. Salad and soup is not what I was paying for, scollops was what I was paying for. I would highly recommend that Smitty's Overtime Inn either take scollops off their menu or buy a product that is a real scollop. Immediately could tell this place was a local favorite with the number of people here when we showed up. I can't remember her name, but our hostess was friendly and made a good beer recommendation that I took her up on. Our waitress, Laura, was honestly holding down the fort and killing it out there! Extremely charismatic and warm even while working super hard serving my dad and I as well as several other much larger groups. Cheese curds were great, which says something being in the heart of a paradise for cheese curd lovers. The salad bar was well stocked and great, soup was clearly home made and hearty, and the pizza I got (rising crust) tasted incredibly fresh with the ingredients used. I would come back here much more often if I lived anywhere around, it's clear they got a lot of heart and great people...

(Update) I went back to smittys after 6 months and the food and service was much better. Unknown if it's different staff or if they improved but it's much better then before. Food is 3 stars but as they improved alot I'm giving them 4 stars for making service and food better.

(Original post) Smittys more like Shittys. First time going, went with party of 5, on a Sunday. 4 out of 5 of us ordered New York Strip. 3 ordered Medium, 1 ordered Medium rare...however all 4 were medium rare, super fatty (16 oz steaks, 4 oz just fat), and tough to chew.

Food was not well received. Service was awful, however, in her defense the place was not packed but she was manning the bar and tables.

I might go back after 6 months, and on a weekday, to give it another chance, but it will...
