First got a shower, there was hair from at least the last 5 people from various lengths and sizes. Somewhat disgusted, I decided to get my first hot meal in 4 days, I've been trucking hard!
I took a seat at the counter there was 3 others already seated. 2 in separate booths, and one more at the counter when you first walk in. Server was Somewhat busy with the 3 others. Back and forth, not a smile, not a welcome, not even a "I'll be right with you!" ... 2 other gentlemen came in and sat down. Must be regulars, they got menus promptly. Two more individuals walked in and sat at tables. Another waitress showed up and started talking to them. When the waitress walked past me yet again without even acknowledging I existed, I got up and left. I don't understand what went wrong in this world, but THIS is part of the reason the trucking industry has truly went to crap! This exact place 20 years ago you would of had water or a cup of coffee in front of you before you sat down. I get it, its a new era. Full of fast food and ZERO respect for one-another.
Everyone is entitled to have a bad day. I'm not sure what's going on in this establishment, but I'll give the corporate a hint! I've been all over this country the last 4 months. From San Diego to just West of Boston. From Portland to Miami and all over in-between. PAY FOR GOOD HELP! PLEASE! I wish I had a YouTube video to show what every truckstop was like 20 years ago! It didn't matter if it was noon or midnight, places like this needed 3 cooks to keep up with the waitresses! I bet those ladies made $200 in tips each shift! They treated each customer like they were family! This parking lot is huge, and I doubt 75% of the drivers dont even bother going inside! Why? Because all of them have had service like I just got! You couldn't pay me to give it a try next time! I'll take my money elsewhere next time and not bother with disappointment again! Feel free to read my other reviews. Because when great reviews are earned, I take great pleasure in letting others know. You definitely...
Read moreWent into Petro and was greeted by a great server. She was friendly, nice and served me quickly. I ordered the Texas steer burger steak. This is my Petro go to meal. I get this dish everytime and at all locations.
She brought me my first side which was chili. The chili wasn't bad but was only like warm and not hot at all. Not impressed.
When my entree came to me I noticed the hamburger steak was broken into like 6 pieces like it was just destroyed.
I asked her why was it all broken up and she said "the cook puts it on the broiler instead of the flat top for flavor" I was like ummm ok but it's all broken up. Apparently the cook did not have a idea how to cook a hamburger on a broiler grill. After the first few bites I noticed a very strange taste from the meat and it was almost slime like. I tried a piece without the brown gravy thinking it was maybe bad gravy. Nope it was the meat. So I stopped eating the meat and went to my room temperature baked potato.
After finishing the meal my stomach already started churning. I believe they served me bad hamburger meat.
I took a few anti-diarehea tablets to be safe and hope that it will not progress to anything worse then a stomach ache.
I have had a lot of good meals from most Petros. But this location was jacked up for the quality of the food and prob poor training for food safety and handling.
Hopefully they can educate the food handlers on proper temps for storage and how to use a spatula on a broiler to not destroy the product before serving and to not serve a hamburger steak that was in a million pieces lol.
Best of luck...
Read moreWe'll be visiting this area quite a bit from now on....but will take The Iron Skillet off our list of restaurant choices. I hate giving bad reviews, but I feel like I need to share my experience there today. We stopped in hoping to find a quaint, hidden gem type of place. And many of the reviews led us to believe it would be nice. Well, after watching our waitress yell at a customer at the table next to ours more than once, we should have gotten up and left. But, we'd already ordered, so thought we'd stick it out. Big mistake. I have no idea what had taken place before we arrived, but she was terrible to that male customer, and her complaining to the other staff members about him, loudly, so several tables could hear, was uncomfortable to say the least.
Our food came out pretty quick. My guest received a plate with 2 undercooked, runny fried eggs, about a tablespoon of hashbrowns, and bacon that had hardly gotten warmed let alone cooked through or crispy. Toast was forgotten, but when brought out was basically warmed bread. $11 seemed like a lot to pay for that.
I ordered chicken strips and they came with fries. Fries were good, but the chicken strips were deep fried into a big lump, hooked together, and blackened on one side. How does that even happen? Again, pricey for what I received. When I asked for ketchup, she grabbed a bottle off a table that had just finished and left....do we do things like that in a post COVID world?
All in all, yuck. I'm so disappointed this won't be the hidden gem we...
